January’s Paragon Gauntlet - Mr. Negative

G-Hun-GearG-Hun-Gear Member Posts: 1,447 ★★★★
Ok, now with the last Event Quest Completion Solo Event of this month, I have done my last run through this month’s Paragon Gauntlet.

And I have to say: Bullseye was a hard fight, but a good fight once I learned to bring a bleed immune champ rather than an evade counter.

However, Mr. Negative was an ANNOYING fight!

The nodes were just punishing… Difficult, yes, but also straight out punishing!

Ok, first of all, you have to place poison on him, otherwise he takes close to zero damage.

Thankfully, you can place poison on him with parry…

BUT WAIT:
Doing so places a poison on yourself, too!

OK, so bring a poison immune champ.

BUT WAIT:
Poison immune champs will receive burst damage instead!

OK, so you receive 1% extra damage per parry, no big deal…

BUT WAIT:
If you parry a medium dash (which AI makes sure you do because they don’t EVER start a combo with a light attack, although you try to immediately parry after your attack), you lose a Rush Down Charge… do that three times and you get a 5 second stun, which can also chain…

OK, in order to gain more charges, you have to knock Mr. Negative down.

BUT WAIT:
If you knock him down, your controls may be reversed! Because, you know, Mr. Negative…

Ok, so bring a reverse control immune champ then…

BUT WAIT:
knocking him down also grants an evade charge! And not just evade, but the kind where they attack you during the evade which can chain into a special…

OK, wait that evade charge out and attack afterwards…

BUT WAIT:
By the time the evade charge expires, so does the poison that you had placed on him!

OK, so parry and attack while he’s stunned…

BUT WAIT:
He also gains unblockable, so you’ll have to wait that out, too…

Ok, so you consider all of that…

BUT WAIT:
For some reason, my Hercules receives a massive (stacking) Degen that I have no idea where it came from! Hulk didn’t receive that. maybe something in Mr. Negative’s kit that I’ve forgotten, I don’t know…

I mean, who designs a fight like that? I know you only have to do it once, but the Paragon Gauntlet is a good place to earn points for Event Quest completion. So do it twelve every 4 days? FML

TL;DR:
I like a challenging fight. But what I don’t like is when a node forces you to do something that is ACTIVELY PUNISHED by another node…

So how did the community manage the fight and am I just too whiny?

This was a difficult fight! I just used Nick Fury to deal a lot of damage and finished with the rest of the team.

its not that hard, i never really read the nodes and u can mostly brute force him. Scorp also makes the fight pretty easy

I don’t know man, seems to me like if you try to brute force it, you get stunned and counter-evaded, all while dealing close to no damage without poison on him…

Scorpion may work well, I don’t know, don’t have him.

Also, when thinking about it: iBom could have worked well… Routinely places poison which eliminates the need for parries which eliminates the need for knockdowns which eliminates the evade charges and also most of the reverse controls… mine is at r3 so would have been a long fight, but still…

I used iBom. Wasn't the cleanest fight but I managed to get him in one try.

Now imagine doing this fight with the Mercenary challenge, where you can't swap champs and you'll have to use them for the whole quest, it was a nightmare

i used Overseer once and Scorpion for rest , soloed everytime

I used Moon Dragon, evade counter and immune to reverse controls, degen resistance. I avoided the unlockable buff as best as I could and played it safe.

I do that fight every 4 days with Guess who...
    Herc does herc things.

I explored the lowest EQ difficulty, There's acid wash on negetive. This node is just stupid for that difficulty. I don't care about it, my autofight cleared him....but acid wash on a lowest EQ. Thats bad design.

I used Hit Monkey for that. Wasn't terrible.

Well, good thing I got some effort to spare... ;)

As I've said, did the fight twice every four days, for Event Quest Completion... Still didn't like the design of the fight...
