It was because your crazy form fell off so the root disappeared. Not saying it's working as intended because he should've been silent stunned from being hit from a heavy but atleast there's an explanation for the root
The AI seems to immediately react when root expires even if youβre in the middle of a combo. Itβs pretty frustrating to have to spend an extra 10 energy because of that happening

My man hit you with the ultra instinct shuffle. Happened to me once but I wasn't sure I saw it right. Got a war death earlier because a morbius launched a sp3 while I was mid combo, he was on 1% health, I was fuming.
Ok, so what I think happened here is that sandmans root can be deactivated in two ways: you have less than 5 passive armor ups so it doesnt let you chain another heavy attack OR your unstable form ends while they are rooted. The timing perfectly aligns with sandmanβs unstable timer going back to stable so Im guessing that was the reason root didnt hold. Now, root not being in place should have absolutely no bearing on a heavy that landed on the first hit not connecting on the second so sliding (which is a default behavior with root for a lot of circumstances) is clearly a poorly designed one. Sorry this happened

It's just extra frustrating that this is a clear programming issue inherent in the game that will cost a lot of players a lot of frustration and yet nothing will be done to fix it.
And yeah, he went from unstable to stable mid attack, but as you mentioned, the first hit of the heavy should have still had him incapacitated and yet this has happened to me countless times.

I just learned to watch the timer to not have it happen. It's annoying yes, but not impossible
Yeah I'm pissed. I just faced a Wiccan in War that Auto Blocked me in the middle of a Combo. No Nodes doing it. The AI is over the top
Funny to see you on this side, what I also encountered it the fact that the AI recovers mid heavy a lot recently, especially if they were stunned and it expires or have an sp3. I was heavying someone with Titania after my sp3, the first hit connected and then before the second hit they used the sp3. Luckily I had my indestructible, but that was not something nice to see.

Just remember that AI have rolled the dice when that root expired and it came to conclusion that it should react by sliding back, making you surprised, follow it and then counterpunch into KO. Nice dice.

Looks like the dice always gets the same result Might be faulty..

But again if he's hit by the first part of the hsevy there shouldn't be any shift in the placement to avoid the second, it's a flaw in the code and really should be addressed
