Battlegrounds Change Suggestion

Battlegrounds matches should give players 2 points for a win and -1 point for a loss. Only during Victory Track.

I’ve seen this complaint many times in global chat and i’ve felt the same way for a while. There’s nothing more frustrating then finally being able to win 4 out of the 5 matches you need to advance to the next rank after hours of moving up and down, only to be hit with an unfair matchup that guarantees your loss and moves you down to 3/5 wins, which means you now need to win 2 matches in a row to advance, therefore making it a higher chance of losing all your wins you’ve worked hard for and moving all the way down to 0/5 wins again. This can leave you playing hours of BG’s without making any progress what so ever. Victory Track shouldn’t be this frustrating and hard to make progress. The penalty for losing has more of an impact than the reward for winning. 2 points for a win and -1 point for a loss is the perfect way to make battlegrounds more enjoyable and much less frustrating for all players. Plus, Gladiators Circuit is where all the serious competition resides. When you make it to GC, that’s when things get serious. Making this change to victory track would allow players to have much more fun with this game mode. Thanks.

And all the kids that will say ‘skill issue’ incoming… lol

    Skill issue!

    Haha, just kidding.

Personally, as engaging as it is to get up to 4 tokens just to end up on a losing streak and go back to zero, I like it the way it is.

Gives me a sense of accomplishment when I do finally jump to the next tier.

Going 2 per win is just gonna get way more people to GC and have more people crying about "unfair" matchmaking.

Just my opinion on the situation.

And believe me, I've been there countless times myself.

Please turn off global. It'll bring you better enjoyment of the contest.

@Rayven5220 It is still unfair for most players like OP said.

What I think is, having 3 matchups for Vibranium 3 and 2, and 5 matchupes for Vibranium is a better solution. 5 consecutive wins three times is very unfair for victory track, Especially for paragon accounts

If global is on the same page as you then I disagree with what you suggest.

@xLunatiXx That’s an immature and dismissive way to reply. Not everybody in global are brain dead… There are adult players that actually discuss real positives/negatives in the game and make good points. It’s funny because your reply is the exact thing you’d see the annoying, immature kids say in global that you seem to dislike so much lmao. Ironic.

@Rayven5220 fair enough, I appreciate the serious response. I guess we just feel differently about the current state of BG’s. I don’t think people would be complaining about unfair matchmaking anymore than they already do if this change was to be implemented. If the less competitive players want to make it to GC and then not take it as seriously after that then they don’t have to compete with the more serious players in GC. The serious players will rise up the ranks and the players that just want to make it into GC to secure the lowest spot will be happy just to make it there. Plus i’m sure they’d find the Victory Track much more fun and fair if this change was to be implemented. Thanks for the reply bro.

Joke went over your head but that's fine.

On subject, we see this topic coming here almost daily...
I'm fine with having a sense of personal accomplishment to reach GC every season. And I'm generally not in favor of watering down everything in this game.

The thing with making it easier to get to GC though is why is anybody going to take it seriously if it's that easy?

Why would I even bother pushing once I've gotten there if it's just as easy for anybody to get there and get the exact same rewards for getting there as I will?

That literally just waters down the game and makes it pointless to bother playing BG's once you reach GC, because now it's just as easy for everybody else to get there.

I know all too well about getting smacked by massive rosters in VT that I have almost no shot at beating, but I don't get bent out of shape about it screaming for changes, I adapt and overcome.

Most people aren't bothering to push these last few seasons because solo rewards are garbage.
I bet that changes, though, because next season the solo rewards are apparently being changed, and this season most variants will make the push because of the new Valiant store.

While it's annoying to be at a large amount of wins (3-4) to go on and get your ass kicked for 3-4 rounds in a row, that's the challenging part about making it to GC.

Nobody should have an easy road there.

Not many players have the hurry to make it to gc and lose to whales like u. By giving 2 coins per win in VT will make it much easier to climb to gc, means you’ll not have enough wins in VT. That may force players losing matches intentionally in vt who have 400K+ pts as ally min req, since most of them try to burn elder marks in VT. If u r skilled enough u can always make it to gc during 1st/2nd week with a decent win rate in VT.

Yes. Get to GC in 1 week or 2 and the complain in GC because they can't get any 48 hr objectives done, because there are mega whales up there...
All that so some people can get just a "sense" of accomplishment.

@bringpopcorn There has never been a BG’s season where I haven’t made it to GC, so i’m sure I would have felt this ‘sense of accomplishment’ time and time again by now… but in the end it just feeling like “finally i’ve made it through that BS”, then a sense of accomplishment.

@Rayven5220 Even though I don’t feel the same way, you make some good points. The part where you say ‘just adapt and overcome’ when continuously matching up with rosters you have no chance against… there’s really nothing you can adapt to. You just have to hope that your next matchup is with an equal opponent… which is not how the game mode should be structured. Anyways like I said, you made good points, especially for top end of players who take the game very seriously and play a lot. Thanks for the feedback bro.

So with seeding you start at Plat1 and think you need 2 points per win and 1 per loss?...
    Talk about being lazy

@BringPopcorn laziness has nothing to do with it bro… you could’ve said anything at the end there but went with laziness and it just doesn’t make sense.

You start at Plat 1 and you want to earn 2 tokens per win and lose token... Its lazy.

@BringPopcorn I don’t think you read my main comment which explains my reasoning… laziness is clearly not the issue.

You want to win less matches to get to GC, because it frustrastes you... It is pretty lazy

@BringPopcorn how did you just explain why my reason was not me being lazy… then call it lazy lmao.

Battlegrounds matches should give players 2 points for a win and -1 point for a loss. Only during Victory Track.

That's too strong of a skew. Mathematically speaking the players would be gaining a whole point on every match, and those points have to go somewhere. They would go towards radically accelerating promotion. You're probably thinking that there would still be players who would have a difficult time getting promoted with such a scoring system, because there are players now that have win percentages that are very low, and even +2/-1 would still be a slog.

But this ignores the fact that everyone else would be getting promoted much faster. That means stronger players would be leaving VT faster, and leaving lower tiers faster. This means every VT tier would be getting effectively weaker faster, as stronger players promote out of them. This would make the players who currently struggle to promote get easier matches faster. They would not have low win percentages for as long as they do now, and would be in a position to start promoting faster and take better advantage of that point scheme.

In effect, every match generates an extra victory point with +2/-1. Those points have to go somewhere. They can't go just to the stronger players, because if they do those players would promote out of VT quickly, and stop taking points. The points can only accelerate stronger players for a short period of time before they have to "leak" downward towards weaker players.

I suggested an alternate scoring system that had a lower skew: +2/+1/0/-1 for 2-0 wins, 2-1 wins, 1-2 losses, and 0-2 losses. However, even this had enough skew that Kabam did not want to implement it. It was actually the only suggestion in my list of BG suggestions they did not implement at least in part.
