Advice Needed: Recoils

ForumerForumer Member Posts: 104 ★★
Hi all,

I’ve been using recoil masteries for years. Obviously, it makes some of my top champions like Herc, Kitty, Ghost, Nimrod, and Shang Chi (7r3 so I value him a lot) MUCH better.

However, recently I’ve pulled two amazing champions, Kushala (7*) and Kate Bishop, that I’d really love to learn and master. Additionally, I know that champions like Doom and Silk become more playable with them off.

I’m having a really hard time biting the bullet and disabling recoils. Any advice?

You've heard about mastery load outs, right?

I’m asking advice as to what should be my default layout because spending 35 units each time is a bit much for me.

    I absolutely hate running recoil

Questing will become much better without them

turning on suicides and recoil is something i only ever do for endgame content

If you grind arena, leave them on. If not, then I say leave them off.

Depends on the quest and who you use. Diablo, Hulkbuster, and Claire are three of my favorite champs to use, and all work better with them.

Arena basically requires suicides. BG is better to have them off, but that doesn't require constant switching thankfully. AW is better off but depends on the tier if you have to or not. AQ is faster with them on, and since it's tedious I prefer them on.

Overall, it really depends on the scenario as to which is the better option

Kate really works well with recoils. Her coldsnap damage hit off the charts but the double edge damage is brutal for her.

Yes! So I made a bit of a compromise. I took a point out of deep wounds (now 1/3 but I don’t run bleed champs) and maxed out coagulate. Now the goal is to master perfect release on sp2 to apply coldsnap and take as little damage as possible. As for Kushala, well… I guess Deathless Guilly is going to r3 (don’t kill me 💀)

Deathless guilly over kushala is not "Too insane", as I'm pretty sure with suicides and better crit rng, deathless gully can end every fight in 20 seconds as long as opponent don't purify/crit resist.

That’s true but people underrate her

If you can't afford 35 units you are really going to limit your roster and your ability to do content.

Up until a month or so ago, I ran recoil nonstop. I was always using a lot non-recoil friendly champions, so I always brought Fury & Deadpool synergy. That healing in beginning of each fight helped offset the recoil damage

I stopped using Herc as he became super boring, turningoff recoils opened the door to a lot more champs than having them on did. My only benefits were Kitty, Ghost and Omega Red. Shang chi and Absman got a good boost from them, but he is good without them too, and I can use Sorcerer, Wiccan and Dani midstar a lot more now.
