Is Titania’s Special 3 broken?

DocWestDocWest Member Posts: 245 ★★★
For a while now I have found Titania’s special 3 to be incredibly frustrating due to how often the AI throws a special into it. Sometimes it happens as soon as the special 3 animation finishes and other times after my first heavy attack. It’s gotten to the point now where I rarely pick her in Battlegrounds because there is always a high chance her SP3 is broken by the opponents special. She is completely unreliable and stressful to play.

It wasn’t always this way. There was a time where I really had a hard time deciding if she would be my first 7* science rank up or if Hulk would get it. I went Hulk and if I had to make that decision today it would be easy to pass on her.

Is anyone else experiencing this or am I just bad at using Titania all of a sudden?

I've gotten into a habit of throwing the first hit of the heavy with hay maker before an sp3 to inflict double debuffs (2 intimidates instead of 1).

With the double debuffs I've had no champion throw a special during my heavy spam this entire season. I'm going to keep using this from now on

People use the word nerf to describe anything in this game nowadays

Her heavy isn't nerfed, it's the intimidate

I use Gladiator a lot, and dashing back for a sec or 2 after your passive-stun heavy is really essential to how the match might play out. I can usually go in a pummel their block after that dash back and they turtle, but dashing back again to then go in for another block-hit combo is very hit or miss of if they decide to stay passive or not.

I've learned to work around it, but it's frustrating nonetheless. With Titania, it's a bit more problematic since heavying after that sp3 is your big cashout on damage. If the match is getting hectic and they have close to 3 bars after you launch that, how they react is really win-or-lose for the match since you can usually launch 3 heavies while they're all debuffed, but that means they'll be in the red if you don't kill them. If they decide to launch it while all debuffed, well, then you're screwed unless your indestructible is still active.

    Two things can be true.

Really hope Kabam reads this and gives a fix to the potency of that intimidate debuff she inflicts

Not only for titania, there are several champs who using intimidate like gladiator and mantis seems off

Just fought a werewolf in BG with hulkling (and yes I know it's not the ideal matchup, I had no other options) I was going to lose eventually but I had an Sp2 and threw a heavy intimidate and bro did not dash back once instead hit me with multiple sp1's while intimidate was on. Could not do my rotation and was backed into the corner

I think is something wrong with intimidate, even with gladiator after i heavy and inflict the intimidate passive debuff, opponent can do special attack, and make my gladiator losing all his confidence buff

I made a thread on this few weeks back on how Gladiator intimidate was so ineffective once you have PvP ie masteries involved. I thinkt he same ahs happened to mantis and GTitania.

In arena I could get 4 hits on the block with Gladiator before the defender actually attacks and wastes the rest of the debuff.

Mantis it's 50/50 if the intimidate works.

There are times even when you dash back (which I do) - they still un-turtle and attack Some time sI get all 12 hit sin - sometimes 4 at most.

I think it's a combination of masteries and the rogue AI (which masteries I couldn't say) that means intimidate is basically nerfed.

When I fight in EQ, special quests etc the intimidate works very well.

When I play BGs or arena it's a coin toss.

Yeah already test with mantis in arena, inflict intimidate, after 5 hits blocks, opponent started to attack

Let her apply special lock debuff instead of intimidate

I use Titania a lot. I haven't noticed anything wrong with the SP3 BUT... afterwards I have the hardest time triggering a heavy. She just stands there after I tap and hold.

Intimidate + special lock will be better, or a long stun. But knowing how strong Titania is, Kabam won't buff her

It’s good to know I’m not going crazy and others have noticed it as well. I really hope we can get some insight into this at some point from someone at Kabam.

It's not a problem with Titania (although it is a problem for Titania).

The problem lies in how the AI interacts with players, and how effective AI-manipulating debuffs like Intimidate/Infuriate are.

Essentially, Intimidate appears to have become less effective than it used to be. You'll see it with Mantis, too: opponents will start attacking when you need them to block, so you can build up charges.

I got light intercepted in bg while dashing into an intimidated opponent with Gladiator. They are really not giving a damn about proper balance when attaching such an element of rng with the possibility of the AI choosing to intercept . This shouldn’t be a possibility, I should never fear getting intercepted when dashing into an intimidated opponent.

Doom’s AI has always been hyper aggressive, I think it has more to do with him than her in this instance as it’s always been risky to sp3 and bully him. That said this is definitely something we see more of

Kabam dorky already acknowledged but i had to tag him again @KabamDORK. Not only for titania, but champs that had intimidate like gladiator, mantis and hulkling. Hopefully you can look into this

Something I have been doing is getting 2 heavies off with Titania, then going into a full 5 hit combo, then relic, and then throw the sp1. Take a few seconds longer, but it's a lot safer than going for that 3rd heavy.

On that same note, gotta love the sheer panic you feel when they have that last sliver of health and you finish that last hit of your combo. Get's that hear racing.
