Anyone else getting ripped off with negative contest credits?

njocraignjocraig Member Posts: 3
I have been playing this game for close to 8 years. I log in the other day and it says I owe almost -4,000 credits!!! I absolutely did NOTHING wrong. They are saying it was me that refunded a purchase, but I didn’t do anything of the sort!

I actually live in Vancouver, where Kabam is located. I want to bring them my bank statement showing them I got no refund. This is really upsetting, I would pay if I did something, but not for something I did not do!

Is there any recourse? I sent an official complaint but DOM is saying I am guilty without even looking into it I figure. What a SCAM!!’

contact Support, ask for refunded product, solve it with support.

I already have! They are refusing to look into it assuming I did something shady. This is so wrong.

Did this ever get solved? I just had this happen to me and I contacted support a day and a half ago with no resolution yet.

It’s so frustrating when I didn’t do anything wrong yet my account has lost over 11,400 units.

Did you refund or charge back directly with Apple/googje/credit card company and not thru Kabam?

    Yes through Apple

That's why. You should have gone through Kabam. You're in negative units forever now (or if you spend like $400).

So dumb - if I thought they’d give me back my 11k+ units, I’d spend the $4.99 just to be done with it.

    Yes through Apple

In your first paragraph, you denied doing a refund, but here you are saying you did a refund. You could have saved yourself and put 2 and 2 together lol

How is it dumb? You bought something and used their product then asked for a refund while retaining the product. Also you still have your units. Once you pay to get out of the negatives your units are unlocked. They still exist in your account.

At the moment you just can’t use your unit because your locked out of it

Imagine bumping a one year thread to say "oh this happened to me" and literally a couple posts later "I refunded through apple"

  • Newbie1_KenobiNewbie1_Kenobi Member Posts: 28
I didn’t purchase anything. The email said I did which is why I thought my cc was stolen but no other fraud was seen and I didn’t actually press any buttons in the game to purchase anything. Imagine not reading carefully and posting snarky things when someone is just trying to get resolution for some type of glitch or error.

So your CC info wasn't stolen, and you didn't purchase anything correct? And you said you requested a refund through Apple right? Then there was a purchase made somewhere, and proof of it. If there was no purchase, you wouldn't be able to get the refund.

Kabam's fraud and financial departments are very much on top of things. I don't believe they're trying to scam you. There's something in your story that's not adding up.

What do you mean read carefully? Other than this comment, you didn’t post nothing about not purchasing something but still getting charged. All you said was you got a refund and got negative units.

Secondly if you didn’t purchase something then someone did because you have to physically go through a verification process to have a purchase go through. So there are three option, your sharing accounts and someone bought something using your phone, you did buy something but want to try come off as innocent so your lying Or some how apples store has a bug that purchases things for you. I doubt the apple thing.

Ok, so wasn’t in their FIRST paragraph (even in this person's first paragraph, not the original OP).

But did say “didn’t do anything wrong”.
And YES, requested refund thru Apple (thus negative credits).
As well as but “didn’t purchase anything” ?

So you requested a refund, without having actually purchased anything ?

So did an Apple charge just show up on your Apple account, when you (or anyone who has access to your game, ie, kids, friends, etc) supposedly never bought anything in game or thru WebStore (if somehow you could use Apple to pay for WebStore items) ?

You should contact Kabam and have them tell you what purchase it appears that you had made.

Yes an Apple charge just showed up on my account. I did contact Kabam 2 days ago and haven’t heard anything.

What was the charge for? What was the exact purchase?
  • Newbie1_KenobiNewbie1_Kenobi Member Posts: 28
No “purchase” was made as I did not click any buttons in the game to initiate such and NO items were added to my account in game. I’m using the word “purchase” in the context of receiving an email from Apple stating one had been made when it had NOT been made.
  • Newbie1_KenobiNewbie1_Kenobi Member Posts: 28
I can understand how it seems suspect, but I really thought it was a clerical error and Apple fixing it wouldn’t cause this headache. I suppose that was naive.

I did more digging and the email was sent with the wrong date. The actual purchase was for several days earlier which I did make. I just paid the $4.99 and my units are back. What a nuisance! I do appreciate the positively-posted advice.

Apple will send purchase receipts in batches and they can arrive several days later.

Yes, crazy how companies want to protect themselves from people trying to commit fraud.

    You made a purchase.

    Asked Apple to refund.

    You kept all the items.

Kabam finds out and gives you negative units.

    Shame on Kabam right?

Did you not see that you did not get a receipt from the 2 or 3 day earlier purchase ?

If you had gotten multiple receipts, or seen multiple charges on your account, but indeed actually did purchase just a SINGLE ONE, then I can see you saying “wait, there is an extra one”.

But just having a single receipt show up a few days later than actually purchased, should not automatically register as something out of the ordinary, when there is 1 receipt for 1 purchase.

**unless you are purchasing these quite often, and then in no realistic way can you try to keep track of the 20-some purchases you make each month, to get them to line up with the 20-some different receipts (some coming bundled together) you get for them that month.
And to try to say well 1 particular one I don’t remember, seems very contradictory to “I didn’t make any purchase”, so THAT one I am going to risk my account by asking for a refund on, even though it very well might be just a timing issue.
  • Vegeta9001Vegeta9001 Member Posts: 1,709 ★★★★★
My man, if it's a 4.99 purchase you refunded the negative amount won't cost you too much, just gotta suck it up and pay it out if you want your units/future units back.
