I’ve been sitting here trying to bait out a special from toad for 2 minutes why does every fight and every champion have to have a different a.i why does every mode have to have a different a.i why does it feel like every other day the a.i is drastically different from what it was this **** is beyond ridiculous at this point just leave it alone.

If this fight didnt have terrible ai its enjoyable u push sp2 with invert controls to remove all prowess sp1 in root issue is u cant always intercept as ai blocks and sometimes he doesnt throw a sp1 in root if he had the perfect ai i really enjoy this fight its clever its fun saying with this ai though still fun but its unbearable to keep fighting

I agree but it doesn't seem complex to me. Kabam makes it appear that way. The AI is oddly behaving in a manner that suits this particular defender so well, making them behave like it's intentionally designed. You fight a Toad in any content, this is not the toad AI behavior you'll get. True each content differs but in terms of difficulty. But none of us knows the codes behind the scene, but this one is intentionally hesitant at not just throwing his sp1 but when he doesn't have any prowess. Leave yourself open and he even dash back. However, whenever he has the require prowess to make him unblockable, he uses specials at ease. This is intentional and the fight design to me.

This is the issue for me. Nowhere else have I seen some of the AI behavior that seems perfectly suited for a particular set of nodes.

Bane or Brute force? Defender prone to turtle when the timer runs against you.

Need to intercept to disable node? Super nimble light intercepting AI.

This Toad? Yeah…

The end game difficulty is just long drawn out fights where you dash in and back hoping the defender throws a special before your phone battery dies. Such a rewarding experience.

The absolute reluctance to throw sp1s is baffling. He just dashes in, then dashes back, and holds block, then repeat.

It's almost like he want to get to his sp2 which is significantly harder to dex while unblockable+rooted/reversed. This passive playstyle also keeps him closer to his wall, so he gets more potent regen.

Seems suspiciously tailored for the fight. But you know, I'm just reading too much into it, definitely isn't intentional or anything...

If you pay more attention to it you'll notice it's not just sp1 but also whether or not Toad has prowess or not. Just experiment you'll see when there's enough prowess he's not stingy with his specials irrespective of which one it is. It's so intentional!

Came here to say the exact same thing. Usually, I take these AI issues with a grain of salt, but this fight could be really fun if the AI wasn't absolute trash. I spent more time baiting specials than actual fighting. Garbage

Yeah I noticed it. Also he is passive when he have less prowesses (2 or less), He is aggressive and cooperate for intercepts at 2-8 prowesses. But if he gets to 9 prowess he becomes super passive.

Fixing AI is complicated and time-consuming so why do they need to do it? Meanwhile they can spend that time to think about the deals for upcoming event, or creating new **** defense champion to make more money. Kabam Dork already responded officially on my thread that there is no update or anything on AI investigation after several months.

They dont need to change ai just simply add nodes like special bias and to help intercepts do aggression node

I hope we can get better than the usual aw-shucks shrug-off, “no clue why this is happening” response. It’s disappointing and doesn’t comport with what people who spend way too much time playing the game can plainly see.

Will all the objectives get done? Of course they will. Will it be a combo of challenging & rewarding game play? Maybe. Will it leave a sour taste once it’s done? Yep.

If the answer is “we don’t know why the AI does what it does and we really can’t control it,” then just say that.

Maybe it's reverse, it could be easy and they tune it as per their needs. Like for sos toad, how does ai know to wait before throwing specials. Perhaps AI is getting smarter and one day will takeover Kabam.

They tweak it for each boss of this series I believe. The stupid Toad hardly uses sp1 when in Root mode but is very likely to do so when in Inverted phase. And that inverted control is so annoying and hardly skill-based.
