i dont get it what makes people think bgs is running the game, more than half of the playerbase does not even play it regularly, there would definitely be alternate content released more frequently, same with story chapters..

the game was definitely not dead and players were playing it before bgs was a thing

I truly believe if BG's didnt exist we had x2 more content and by this time I type it
we surely had a rewards Buff for CAV/TB EQ + Valiant level added.
AW would probably be a bigger focus and Kabam probably would've add more content like
Shooting Star or Crucible

You're delusional. Why do you think more content ? All it takes to create a season of BG is 2 nodes and it plays itself out. No way kabam can create a piece of content for you in the time it would take to come up with 2 nodes.
Also yes game would be dead. There's no real reason to rank up champs for questing. It's too easy and non restrictive. So bless BG wether you like it or not

battlegrounds is the ultimate driver of chasing rankups, resources, and champions.

before, rosters didn't really matter except for a handful of war attackers and defenders and a few more for content. if someone in the battlegroup had a defender, you wouldn't rank them, but bgs changed everything and players face the pressure of needing 30 of the best defenders and attackers they can get under a constantly changing set of globals. this really opens up the game and gives kabam a chance to make a ton of money.

if they replaced BGs with something else, it would have the same champion and resource chase as it does now.

edit: even if a lot of players don't do battlegrounds, the biggest spenders do and they're funding the game.

I think that kinda makes sense, bgs did create an incentive to rank defenders and multiple attackers, but bgs is not the MAIN gamemode like many people claim, helped keep the game alive and fun is a fact tho I agree now

BG's doesn't keep people engaged though. From my own experience, most people don't start playing it until last 2 weeks and even then just do objectives. Apart from a small minority of players, it's just another game mode who do the bare minimum or nothing at all.

BG generates money, like a lot.
Most if not all new heroes are designed and sold as BG, latest example is count nefa, Serpent etc

Nefa sold for 700 dollars,
Kabam don't care what avg blud does, as long top whales are spending money, Kabam is chilling and so should we.

I like BGs but I wish we also had a seasonal reoccurring mode similar that didn’t involve pvp aspects, not like sos or eop but like shooting stars or variants where we have restrictions node wise but in a quest like fashion with decent rewards, monthly eq is trash and we need something new

BG is a great idea. I like that it's a competitive mode where you test your skill choosing and using champs dealt by chance.

Unfortunately, it's made frustrating by a certain player type. Because of them, I think seeding for the next seasons wins by forfeit initiated by players ranked (maybe) 2 levels higher than you and by pausing should have less weight.
