Anti-cheat better be quite strong with PC version 👀

Anti-cheat and the potential threats from opening the game up to PC have been front of mind the entire way through development of the game, top top priority for the team for sure.
Does this mean there’s low chance of steam deck support? Since some anti cheat don’t work on it.

That I can't specifically speak to as I do not know. We are not working on a native linux version to my knowledge so support would require the steam compatibility layer, which is some impressive tech but I dont know specifically how it would function here. As we get closer to release we can start to explore those questions with y'all!
It MIGHT work, it depends on if it’s the anti cheat that is supported on steam de k. Which I THINK it is. If I get into the test, then I’ll gladly test it out on there to see. Just gotta hope it doesn’t try to ban me for trying 😂

@Kabam Pinwheel there should be a setting for mobile players in BGs to be able to only que up against other mobile players. Someone playing on mobile against a PC player will have an inherent disadvantage. I know mods are the priority, but this shouldnt be overlooked either. As im sure a ton of people on mobile are going to have complaints regarding this

Not arguing, but why is that?

In case anyone is interested in how everything looks, I recorded a little video of me looking around. The fights are a little rough since I'm a) still learning the controls and b) find the mouse and keyboard setup (which I used in this video) to be less intuitive than the controller one. But at least you can see it in action.

Here are the actual controls. You can use either a controller or mouse and keyboard, and they both come in two layouts.

Do y'all think we'll be able to spam the dodge button and dodge special attacks like winter soldiers Sp2? 🌝
Anyways, would love to test out the beta if there's a link to sign up

Let's get the early anxiety out of the way -

    Is this MCOC 2??? No
Is MCOC on mobile dead??? No
Is MCOC on PC going to be better than Mobile??? No
Is MCOC on PC cool??? Yes

Another early anxiety I have: do we need to pay for it? I'm asking because I fear that it'll be like how the app version of among us is free but you need to pay for the pc version.

i'm hopeful it brings in a much wider audience and adds to the game's longevity but i'm worried about a flood of cheating.

Kabam wouldn't want a PC release to be affected by mods either. Modders are all over the game even now (fought one in BGs) but I expect the PC port will have a much stricter anti-cheat implemented so they can at least mitigate that somewhat

Let's hope they put more long term thoughts into developing this than they did with relics

No offense, but if you're not familiar with mods and Steam and it's issues with anti-cheat, well, I'll just say this:

When Kabam is forced to declare whether or not they're they're using a client-side kernel mode anti-cheat, well, I'd suggest to all players PC or not to look up exactly what that means and come to terms with your comfortability with that.

I was not aware of this. Regardless, unless modders are extremely good at keeping the cheating not obvious, I think it won't be as much of a problem as everyone fears. Modding will definitely go up, but unit hacks mean losses for Kabam so they'll just want to be that much more vigilant.

what inherent disadvantage is that exactly? only thing i can think of is faster loading times in bgs, but that difference has existed between phones too so idk.

I don't care about modders, MCOC at 60 FPS on PC with a controller will be AWESOME...
