Patriot and Leader balancing predictions

Hopefully next week we should get the info on Patriot and Leader’s balance update; what are your predictions? Will both of them get buffs like Arcade and Northstar? Will one of them get buffed? Will neither?

I have both as 7*s, So I'm pretty sure neither will get buffed

If they are not meeting expectations then they will probably get buffed

Patriot needs a buff, leader can be argued as not needing it but no one would complain if they do.

Leader just needs a small damage increase, even in his ideal matchups

Would love it if the leader had a root mechanic when throwing specials in his door, more damage when the doors open and it stays open longer.. stronger furies.. one can hope

That would be nice, but would it make him harder on defense?

Fine I’ll poke the bee’s nest again. Leader isn’t terrible. I think he’ll get a buff and that the buff will be deserved, but it’s not gonna be the sweeping overhaul a lot of people seem to think he needs. He’ll get what he actually needs, which is some tuning to his damage and maybe a bit of extra ease of use like extra debuff duration. And whether they choose to buff him or not, it won’t make him a bgs superstar like people want him and every other champ to be because his role has always been a niche utility champ; he does very good things in the matchups he has tools for, and in the rest he’s reliant on sp3 for big damage so he’s automatically disqualified from being an absolute meta threat like Kingpin or something.

I finally got Patriot after nonstop featured crystals a few days ago, so I don’t exactly have a fully formed opinion on him yet. I will say that people really seemed to overstate how bad his damage is, it’s just kinda mid. People were talking like it was Groot level bad or something. I definitely think he’ll get a deserved buff though, the damage is just not quite good enough and a lot of his utilities just have too many restrictions on them that are obviously there to make him good against Photon and nothing else.

I have leader as a 7r2 sig 20. He is really good in his ideal matches, but struggles everywhere else. The since he is so limited in what he can actually take, I think they should make his withers and spectres ignore regen rate modification limits, it would only let him take a couple more match ups, but it would make him good against the likes of serpent and toad, and would let him stand out a bit relative to count nefaria.

Plus Mr Sinister who is a problem in bgs

Patriot’s damage is actually pretty decent, but I think his utility is too focused on countering Photon that he doesn’t really counter other defenders that well

Let’s not make champs that just completely ignore immunities and such. I think that’d be cool. The takeaway from Serpent shouldn’t be that the whole “his death immunity is immune to nullify so we had to make Spiral destroy them which is the functionally identical to nullify except not really so it ignores his immunity” thing was actually a really cool design choice that we should use more.

Patriot need to have a infuriate when you charge is heavy , because most of the time the ia dont rush and wait...

That would be nice, but you could block one hit and heavy to trigger the reversal. Another option is to make his heavy charge indefinite.

I have both at 7* and they are actually terrible. Like they aren't playable. They suck

I do think at least one of them needs a buff, they can indeed be better

I’ve got both as 7*. Leader at R2 and Patriot at R1.

Leader is useable but could be better. Root during specials would be nice to make the most of the door. As it is, his special pushes the opponent way off the door which isn’t ideal. He could use some kind of damage bump that doesn’t require an Sp3 to make him more useful in non heal/power gain matches. I was clearing all paths of TB EQ science quest with I’m at R1 so I took him to R2 but I haven’t found many uses for him since. If I need power control I use Doom or Chavez. If I need to control regen I have plenty of heal block options . If I need a science attacker in general I have Hulk and Silk as 7* and plenty of 6* options. I just haven’t found many places for him to fit in but he is useable at least. A little damage boost would go a long way for him.

Patriot I’ve found no uses for yet. I’m hoping for big changes are coming to turn him into something cool. I don’t know how he could stay as-is unless the target for him was to only be a niche photon counter and not used anywhere else.

Personally I think what Patriot needs is some increased combat power rate when he has his precision and also a clause that makes his resilience debuffs return if they're purified. He's unusable in skill eq because he purifies all of his debuffs, but I think that could just be a change in the eq node where personal debuffs placed on yourself can't be purified by the node. His damage is nice it just takes so long to get to the sp2

Give Leader a Spider Punk esk buff and we good, Patriot on the other hand, just do something.

Or make his personal inflicted debuffs not be able to be purified

I think they will be looking to address this via rebalancing with the goal of reinforcing his identity as an attacker who can efficiently counter the target matchups above, with the upgrades also increasing his performance in day to day type matchups. (For Patriot)

The Leader’s Defensive kit was designed to disrupt and stall, forcing opponents to manage the damage mitigation attached to his Debuffs and the threat of an opened Green Door. His performance as a Defender so far is aligned with his targets, with his high average fight time as a Defender being a notable standout. Overall, they’re happy with how The Leader has landed so far and no changes are incoming. (For Leader)

Not sure though, just a gut feeling.
