If you build the main prizes into the milestones, you spread the value around more evenly and you keep whales from getting a huge windfall.
If the crystals are absolutely lit, megawhales will get more separation from the population as a whole.
We deliberately include as much of the reward package as we can in the events themselves. This year, everything in the SBC can be used on 7-star champions, so there shouldn't be anything in there that is completely useless to players. But the crystals are never going to be the main focus of the rewards, because if they were as TyEdge correctly summarized, it would mean creating an enormous gap between the big spenders and everyone else.
I will pop back into this thread after the event is over to share more comprehensive thoughts like I did last year. But in the meantime, I encourage Summoners to take a breath and look at the total reward package that was available as part of this event. I personally think there is more here for ~15K Units than there was during Cyber Week, and I'm having a blast with my new 7-Star Medusa.
Enjoy the holiday break everyone.
"So there SHOULDN'T be anything in there that is completely useless to players" so your not gonna mention how people have a chance to actually obtain 1 +1 sig stone, or 1k 7* shards, not useless agreed but you got to admit some cheap @ass moves from you guys when there are plenty of sources to obtain 1k shard thus devaluing the 1k we get from those crystals like how is the +1 sig stones somehow rarer that the 1k shards it gives, when that reward is objectively terrible
"It would create an enormous gap between big spenders and everyone one else" this alone proves you guys lost sight of how to manage these event, who cares if it's gonna give a huge advantage to whales that literally what it should do, I'm not a whale myself but if I read this line then all I would think is that kabam is trying to make me spend more while also trying to make sure I receive the same amount as any other regular player that plays for about 30 mins to an hour a day. Which is complete and utter B.S. if yall were really worried about big spenders obtaining to many tier 4 cats for r3 then just say that. Tell us that either you don't want big spenders to pay their way through or just say your not gonna add any teir 4 cats and in turn are able to increase the value of each item within the crystal so big spenders won't obtain to much of the main r3 resource but there will still be some in the milestones, which right now I belive is three but take it out of the crystal and you could have added like 1 or 2 extra to the milestones to make up for it not being in the crystal. Simple
"And I'm having a blast with my new 7-star medusa" ummm good for you?
Overall message don't forget to read between the lines yall, started replaying this game about 2 years ago around the gwenpool bubble blowout and when I started going to forums for update or what not i started realizing that the devs sort of, kinda like to gaslight us. Wrether it's something they go back on and just say something along the lines of "well things change" or When they release event info, champ info, etc and just stay quit when they know it's gonna cause a bit of a backlash and then come to forums just to say that we're ungrateful and unforgiving to everything they have done for them like some abusive @ass boyfriend

This is a bad business model. We shouldn’t be getting equal rewards. That defeats the entire purpose of progression levels. What’s the point of being valiant if we’re just getting the same exact things as the thronebreakers?
Also, hard disagree on cyber weekend. 15k units in cyber weekend got you at least a bunch of rank ups and an R3 and a titan, not to mention the spending milestones. If those are going to drop on Christmas, then the $50 banquet bundles need to count towards those, because I don’t know anyone who doesn’t regret buying those. Wasted $200. But for $600, we essentially get absolutely nothing of value. That was nearly all the event track rewards in Cyber minus a titan nexus and WX.
The milestones here are underwhelming at best for most valiants to bad for anyone that normally spends. The crystals being absolutely terrible on top of that (and there’s literally no one that’s disagreeing with that in the player base — I’m only seeing people disagree that the milestones weren’t, but to each their own on that), it makes it so much worse. I got 2 R3s from 80 crystals and that includes all milestones. I got like 2-3 7*. That is abysmal. I got significantly more from Omega Days. Once again, if this was just me or a few people complaining, whatever, but practically no one in the community besides people at Kabam are supportive of the way this is being handled.
I’m not saying this to take shots at you — you’re entitled to your agreement and though I’m new to the forums, I’ve heard you’re well-respected. If I said anything here that you find disrespectful, I deeply apologize — let me know and I will edit it immediately. But given that there is not a single place where MCoC is discussed that is anything but overwhelmingly negative right now, this needs to be taken more seriously by the game team.

I am totally split on what is in the SBC crystals, as in: "I don't hate them completely but I definitely don't love them, either."
I'm not entirely certain what I was expecting, and I'm not truly upset. I'm really not.
At the same time: I know it's all random. Not my first rodeo for this event; you get what you get.
This is an honest question, because I honestly don't know the answer to this but would definitely like to hear someone else's opinion:
Do people really prefer, IDK, 5,700 Basic or Class Catalyst shards over stuff like Titan shards?
Me personally: I like collecting characters and testing kits. I rank up characters as best I can, but it's not the primary focus for me. I like spinning and opening, even if the pull isn't always the best.
I had hoped to come away with enough shards for one, maybe even two, Titan crystals out of the 30-plus SBCs I opened. I didn't think that was too crazy.
Got zero -- 0.000000 -- Titan shards.
That...wasn't what I was looking for. Whatever the drop rates were for Titan shards, I would GLADLY have swapped that for the Basic/Class Catalyst fragments.
Just being honest, but maybe I am just alone or an outlier in how I play the game and people really like the fragments?

Fragments of t6b t3a and t6cc no its been how many years by now we should be only getting full ones and if u remove fragments those rates could easily bump the shards up for 7s its a win win yet we are faced with fragments most times of 10%.

Yeah. I know I'll use them eventually, but 10 percent of any rank-up material wasn't what I was looking for, especially at the rate I was getting them

Same here i was hyped to see full ones its been 4 or 5 years and we still get 10% of them its bad by now it should only be full ones, like i wanted to do more rank ups but the measly frags i was able to do a couple due to sub average better luck but like at most it wasnt a lot about 3 7s ranked up only 2 got to r3 and last one being just a r2.
Edit: should clarify i mostly had the resources for these rank ups just not the t6b or t3a which this event didnt help at all as the small frags, it was mainly the milestones and the t6cc i needed well most times it was 5700 on class i do not need or that i dont have focus on rank up just yet but just how rng goes.
I hate the fact that we're still dealing with a morsel of t6cc shards as "reward". It's especially infuriating that the drop rates for it completely overshadow everything else. It's about time we move on to 50% or a whole t6cc as the base, not the 5% or 10% bs. I opened 40+ sbcs and all I saw were t6cc fragments and t5ccs. Yet the number of full t6cc I formed were laughably few. Horribly weighted crystals, don't even get me started on the rest of the reward pool...
Yeah it feels so good to spend 300 units for a T3 alpha or 2 signature stones, I can understand that certain rank materials should be distributed with caution, but opening 10 crystals and receiving rewards that you can get for free by completing the daily super event is regrettable and when you see responses like Kabam Crashed's you realize the huge disconnect there is between Kabam and its player base

I'm having a blast with all my R2 mats in the overflow and no one to use it on since I have barely any shards from this event. Ah and yes all my decent champs and above are already R2. Guess it's time to have Hawkeye like champs at R2. Happy holidays
I took a screenshot of all the items I got from my crystals. Then put the total I spent, both real money and earned units above it, and pretended it was a bundle Kabam was offering. I would never have bought the bundle. I paid 10 dollars for like 250k gold, TWO seven star sig stones and 3 ISO. Another TEN DOLLAR spend was 100k gold, 2 t5cc, and 3 ISO....At some point, did anyone at Kabam sit down together and see these possibilities and think. THIS is what they want? THIS will for sure be the event they deserve? If so, then perhaps we are all on different pages and should just break up. I haven't seen rug pulls this bad since the Hawk Tuah girl launched her meme coin...

The only critique I'll add is that maybe there should have been a way for ftp or just everyone to get 6 of the keys without spending on Odins. That way we all can enjoy a new 7 star medusa
Agreed, I feel like that 7* Medusa comment was a slap in the face and a flex, A Selector key would've been nice, that way everyone gets one champion they really want.
Honestly rewards from the superior crystals are a bit of a let down but I pulled a 7* Thanos and although is not very useful, I can guarantee he is in the pool, opened 20 crystals. Merry Christmas
For me the shame of this will be all the internal metric kabam will have will likely tell them this was a successful event. Numbers of crystals open, amount of money spent, all those things will probably hit there KPIs so they’ll be happy regardless.
I don’t see where customer satisfaction is that high up on their list. If it was we wouldn’t continuously be served awful banquet events year on year. It’s the 10th year anniversary and this has left such a bad taste for the vast majority of players that have provided feedback. There is never any real taking on board feedback from kabam. We’re told “we hear you, we’ve taken on board the feedback” but they really don’t.
Kabam, just be real with us next year and say that the crystals will have nothing of note that you’ll want, unless you are an Uber whale looking for one specific chase items given in insanely low quantities. The crystals are only a vehicle to get the rank rewards.
This right here I think is the main the main disconnect between how the game team sees this event and how disappointed Summoners see it.
For me it's funny and at the same time very telling of the current game devs apparent mentality (in general, not just Kabam) that the so-called "disconnect" is always put on the players and never on the game team themselves, who for reasons that escape me, seem to spend WAY too much time eyes riveted on metrics and spreadsheets and not nearly enough on the actual FEEL of what they are doing.
I remember this event before it was called the banquet. I remember opening 40 or 50 gifting crystals and being genuinely delighted with getting a rare 4* Kang for the collection or 15000 5* shards from time to time (cavalier back then). It was exciting! Who knew what was going to come out of that next crystal! The incentive to open even more was there, right there. Nowadays, the same can't be said about getting 5% of a random T6CC or 10% of a T5CC (and don't get me started on 630 T7B lol). As for the milestones (solo mainly), half of them are, again, the same catalysts we already get all year long, and aplenty from the SBC/GBC players have to open to get to them. So not very exciting either, unless one finds exciting the prospect of watching them expire from the overflow one by one...
I agree to an extent that whales would get an enormous advantage if the SBC were better, and I would be fine with it. Because they already do, all the time. It's the way such games go, they don't wait for the banquet to get that advantage, they already inherently have it. But if the way to prevent that is removing all the fun of opening the SBC for the other 98% of the player base, then that's scorched earth territory tactics.
But I agree with your last sentiment, and hope you and the team have a great holiday.
If you build the main prizes into the milestones, you spread the value around more evenly and you keep whales from getting a huge windfall.
If the crystals are absolutely lit, megawhales will get more separation from the population as a whole.

The milestone sure gives a better value than cyber if compare 15k units I agree but do u forget what is main motive of banquet event
Banquet event main focus is on gambling from crystals which motivates players to open more and even more crystals If milestone is only consideration than why name the event banquet there are many events whole year where people get fix stuff from either milestones or completing higher content
What's good about banquet is opening crystals and motivating yourself to open even more just to get good stuff
But the problem this year is there is no incentive to open crystals for valiant players atleast bcuz those are giving only 10% t6cc or t5cc or half t3 alphas
I say even if you guys atleast put a little more higher count in all stuff it could be much better event for example - like instead of putting minimum 10% t6cc u guys could have put minimum 50% t6cc & removing t5cc from these crystals & could have increased the minimum of shards to atleast 5k-10k
See the another problem is also that u guys treating Tb and valiant equally still after more than the year to valiant title
A tb player can be happy with t5cc or 10% t6cc or 1-2k 7* shard but for valiant player this deal for 300 units is not worth
I seen in many crystals u guys put progression based nexus type rewards to choose according to their progression locked but when it comes to banquet tb and valiants are getting same stuff
Either say in clear words that this event is for now only low progression level players and highest progression shouldn't expect anything great
U guys yourself madeup hype for valiants players by saying that this year will be different from last year and highest progression will be treated separately but the crystals doesn't reflect any of your words.
This summarize very well the issue with this event.
There seems to be quite a lot of negative comments on the current Banquet event. Just thought I would share my experience and abit of data. Honestly I'm not really sure what sharing this would achieve but if it helps the conversation even slightly then maybe it would be worth it I suppose.
Just for some background, I have been uncollected for the longest time and left the game for several years and recently returned about half a year ago. Hearing about this Banquet event, I grinded arena religiously over that time and managed to accumulate 20k units. The general consensus from the community was to spend less on cyber weekend and more on Banquet, so I followed suit, but I wish I hadn't. But that being said, having just acquired the Thronebreaker title before Banquet, I have to say that the rewards acquired from the Banquet crystals I spent on wasn't too bad. Here are my results after spending about 13.5k units on 45 SBC, +4 SBC free from the milestones and +5 GBC from the Accolades milestones. This data also includes all the rewards from all 3 Banquet milestones:
I think I missed out on some data though like the sig stones only meant for Medusa, sentry, Deadpool, etc.. But that doesn't really matter to me since it'll be a while till I'll be able to awaken any of them.
Anyways as a new TB, T5 class cats are still relevant to me as I am still building my 6* roster before pursuing Paragon. All the cats above were bonuses.
I'm overflowing with T6 basics and T3 alphas now, when it would otherwise take a v long time to accumulate them slowly through the Super Daily Event. So I suppose that's a +.
I am most pleased with the amount of 7* shards I managed to get. As well as the 1-2 7* rank up gem. I haven't even begun to rank my 7*s so I didn't quite understand the value of T4 alphas until I read about them on the forums. So I suppose 3 fully formed is a + too.
All in all I am more happy with the results, but only because I am comparing the units spent against the ridiculous 6* champ deals for 2,500 units per champ. For comparison, if I spent 12.5k units I could've gotten 5 6*s, but through this event and spending 13.5k, I managed to acquire 8 7*s.
I can understand how Valiants would feel extremely shortchanged though. For new TB's like me, the rewards are decent. But if I were a Valiant, I'd feel pretty disappointed. The team should probably work on a different set of crystals for valiants and paragons. Lumping us all in the same pool is just not appropriate.
I always like the gamble, thats what banquet/gifting has always been for me. I never expect good things because the way I see it im actually paying for the rank rewards - both my solo score and alliance score are pretty impressive and it's great. However, my main critisism is around the box. I didn't get any of the box tokens apart from the 2, seeing how it's a small pool I can't understand why the rates for this were so low for a mechanic that a tiny fraction of the player base will see work in its entiriety.

Suggestion: communicate this principle early and often to the players.
I cannot stress enough how saying something in a stream somewhere sometime may constitute *notice* but doesn’t rise to the level of full dissemination.
Would you still get complaints? Always. But if this idea had been mentioned often across several platforms well before this much-hyped event, then you’ve done all you can to set expectations. Maybe even consider a “Typical Summoner” post that lays out all the goodies someone would obtain for minimum/no spend on the event?
The team should know the psychology of most players by now—it’s hard to count the thing you pulled two days ago when the crystals you’re popping today yield absolute zippo. That is quite literally the juice so many loot box games are built upon, therefore it shouldn’t be a shock that players operate on a “what have you done for me lately” mentality.
Nowhere am I saying this is a bust of an event—the totality of prizes is actually great. I’m simply suggesting tweaks to prize distribution and to the way things are communicated.
FUUUUUUUCK being respectful tbh, we do this same dance every year with Kabam. It is just easier to notice and understand that hey maybe this money grabbing cash pigs don’t care about us or the community because it is such a massive joke of a 10 YEAR CELEBRATION EVENT. They haven’t been able to properly & fairly value their content since the inception of the game nor have they ever once properly & fairly made appropriate RNG based crystals. This event is likely to drive many from the game or at least make them to free to play & save their units for content rather than event deals because you basically just throw your units away.
Damn straight. It’s another big L for Kabam. All they look like is the grinch that took the fun out of opening SBC’s and another event. 10th anniversary and christmas one too boot 🥾
The milestones in realm is my issue. the individual requirements seem high and the rewards have an up and down feel. Like after getting awakening gem the next milestone is 2x class catalysts?? It should go up each time not back and forth.

I think you correctly point out one of the flaws. And it’s a massive flaw as it’s a repeated mistake from last years event. Paragon accounts and Valiant accounts are light years apart already, but here the team is lumping in TB accounts with Valiants. That’s like saying a proven account and Cav account need the same things…. then tuning those things to the proven account. Nobody is gonna enjoy that.
The potential milestones return from 15k spent (excluding rewards from the ~50 SBC crystals) is definitely a better deal compared to Tier 1 & 2 Cyber Hunter's market however it is still a "potential" return. If the realm event doesnt pan out then there is a significant loss in high value items which the SBCs do not make up for or even mitigate.
Not to try and continue to pile on here, but I think this is where the main issue lies. I agree with the idea behind this paragraph, but in practice it’s not entirely true.
The mega whales at this point in the game are only after 7* r4s. Maybe t4a would still seem valuable to them, but when they already have 30+ r3s it’s not a huge deal anymore.
My point being, all you need to do to prevent the separation between whales and the rest of us is to keep the t7b amounts very tame, you don’t have to tone down the rest of the crystal. Increasing t6cc and 7* shard yields isn’t making a larger dent in the account of whales than it is in the account of an average valiant, meaning this is where the rewards should’ve been improved.
Whales already have loads of t6cc and 7* shards, giving them more of that isn’t ruining the game economy. But by not giving them more of that it means we’re instead in a world where you can spend 300 units for 10% of a random t6cc as a valiant, and even worse is that’s what’s typical, and not unlucky.
They probably can reduce the price to 200, and return 50% of opened crystals back to players A simple tune like this can fix most of the current issues
I think after this event, kabam crashed, dave and just the mcoc team in general would have lost every bit of credibility they ever had or have as far as upcoming events go.
Crashed talked about the reunion crystals being worth spending real money to get double, they turned out to be a massive dissapointment. Can't remember who talked about the realm events for BG'S and crystals (we know how that went).
Crashed talked about the SBC's being only 50% filler and how EVEN TB's (meaning everyone above) would be walking with multiple r3's after this event. TURNS OUT ITS 99% FILLER and they didn't even offer more than 5k titan shard in any of the 3 milestones. Okay fine, seeing this, you'd expect that most of the value would come from the crystals but they're literally the worst part of it all. Offering barely ANYTHING but T6 CC, basics and Alpha cats that I can GET FOR MYSELF IN THE GLORY AND BG STORE???? FOR 300 UNITS???? I'm trying not to rant given the basis of this thread but I am very disappointed in kabam as I myself am able to see the reasoning for alot of their decisions even when the community throws rocks at them but this event was simply just terrible and I am genuinely very disappointed with the game team.
Overall, I personally WILL NEVER EVER rely on anything a kabam employee has to say about any upcoming events because this shows they HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CONNECTION with the mcoc community if they think this was okay at the LEAST.
The potential milestones return from 15k spent (excluding rewards from the ~50 SBC crystals) is definitely a better deal compared to Tier 1 & 2 Cyber Hunter's market however it is still a "potential" return. This is what I've been saying. Even if you get NOTHING from SBCs this event is vastly better than cyber weekend. And for the realm event. Does anyone really believe that isophyne dupe will be locked if people don't spend enough? it's gonna be stark foundation again of course.
I think the majority of the complaining is coming from people that don't have enough units for higher milestones. Look, this event is a single price deal that costs 12k units (price of 2 r3s) and that's it. You don't but a car without an engine and complain about it...
.....I encourage Summoners to take a breath and look at the total reward package that was available as part of this event. I personally think there is more here for ~15K Units than there was during Cyber Week, and I'm having a blast with my new 7-Star Medusa.
Enjoy the holiday break everyone.
Having a Kabam Miike moment?
Ok, this is me breathing, an over 9 years summoners... Banquet (and whatever it was named before) always been about RNG... it also meant that with as low as 900 units you could transform your account, this amount also crept higher year after year, but still, coming out of Banquet, you felt you could take on new high tier content, that your account progressed.
I'm at 9.5M based summoner, top 300 global (not saying this to brag, just to give context).
So going back to getting RNG that could transform my account, what would fit that goal? That would mean Titan crystal, shards, T4A, T7B. Everything else is filler. Remember the stream, when it was said, 50% filler compared to 80% before. You see the reaction of community, this is what most are reacting to, If you are Paragon, Valient, nothing transformative in those Crystals.
The event progression? Again anything transformative is at the top end. I'm at 36,8K points in the event, and I'm done spending units for crystal that are basically fillers. Not enough T7B, no Titan shards (not enough to mention it), yes, got some luck with T4A (got 2 or 3 full from the crystal).
Compared to other Banquet? Yup this is the worse one, why? Because not only the RNG is stacked against me, the probability I actually get something transformative depend on others. And it doesn't look good.
I also have 2 other accounts, both at Paragon, on these, only spent whatever units I had (low 2000), which is also representative to a lot of players... wow, not only you get nothing interesting, it is impossible to even get top solo and alliance rewards.
So by placing those top rewards into milestones, you (Kabam) remove any chances to get something interesting.
Cyber and Banquet used to be: Cyber you spend more units, and you get to pick what you need. Banquet, RNG, you spend a little you could get a lot, not necessarily something you need, but something that can transform your account. What this means? You (Kabam) locked out both events for casual gamers. Is that what you wanted?
Comments
Edit: should clarify i mostly had the resources for these rank ups just not the t6b or t3a which this event didnt help at all as the small frags, it was mainly the milestones and the t6cc i needed well most times it was 5700 on class i do not need or that i dont have focus on rank up just yet but just how rng goes.
Happy holidays
Total Units Used = x13,550
Banquet Keys x2 (Acquired 7* Deadpool & 7* BP Civil War)
Gold 19,500,000
T2 Dust x200
7* Limited Edition Selector (Acquired 7* Angela)
7* Hero Shards x72,000
7* Titan Hero Shards x6,000
7* Gen Sig Stones x4
7* Awakening Gem Crystal Shards x6,000
7* 1-2 Gen Rank Up Gem
T7 Basic Cat Frags x1,890
T6 Basic Cats x19
T4 Alpha Cat x3
T4 Alpha Cat Frags x39,900
T3 Alpha Cat x16
T6 Class Cat Crystal x3
T6 Class Cat Selector x7
T6 Mutant Cat Frags x34,200
T6 Science Cat Frags x17,100
T6 Skill Cat Frags x39,900
T6 Cosmic Cat Frags x11,400
T6 Tech Cat Frags x34,200
T5 Cat Selector x9
T5 Skill Cats x2
T5 Science Cats x2
T5 Tech Cats x4
T5 Cosmic Cats x2

The team should probably work on a different set of crystals for valiants and paragons. Lumping us all in the same pool is just not appropriate.
However, my main critisism is around the box. I didn't get any of the box tokens apart from the 2, seeing how it's a small pool I can't understand why the rates for this were so low for a mechanic that a tiny fraction of the player base will see work in its entiriety.
Please everyone on the team have a great holiday.
Dr. Zola
It’s another big L for Kabam.
All they look like is the grinch that took the fun out of opening SBC’s and another event.
10th anniversary and christmas one too boot 🥾
