"Striker Opening Failed" Glykhan

Hey y'all... I'm not sure what I'm doing, or doing wrong.

But for the 8.4.6 Boss Glykhan fight, I had 2 of 3 striker punishments. Then I attacked and did the 3rd striker, the circle icon turned orange for 3 out of 3, and then while I was mid attack it suddenly said "Striker opening failed" and then Glykhan got an evade charge and I lost everything.

What happened? How do I avoid that?

This was happening to me the other day. I think in phase 3 he may be stun immune so the striker does not stun him so the opening the striker gives you failed. At least that's how I understood it

It's one of his abilities, I'm pretty sure it is the intercept one that lowers your chance of striker succeeding. Give me a moment to grab it.

Edit: it is the intercept one

Interesting! I can't imagine why it was happening in Phase 1 when I (presumably) never intercepted. I was never intercepting until phase 3. Just block hit, stun, striker, and special.

BUUUT I got him down, 3 times! Just took a few more revives than I would've liked lol but all in all I felt pretty good about the fight! Onto 9.1

When you punish Glykhan, he gains a Divine Punishment based on the type of punish you performed. In both Phase 1 and 2, you stack up these Divine Punishments and there is a max limit of 3 for each one. Attempting to perform a punish that is at max stacks will cause Glykhan to gain a Counter Attack Charge. In the case of the striker one, I think the striker will fail and he'll gain an Counter Attack Charge.

    New node:
The defender takes 100% reduced damage from all sources unless a relic is equipped.

But like they said from the beginning and have at times failed to uphold, they'll never force us to need relics for content...

That’s exactly why it happened. When you don’t complete the Punishment, you suffer the drawbacks listed in the picture. Intercepting Glykhan would allow you to use your strikers without any possibility of them failing

This is incorrect. When you build Divine Punishments, that's when the drawbacks come into play. For example, for each stack of Punishment of Frustration (from intercepting twice), Stun and Striker Ability Accuracy is reduced by 30%.

This is why it's important to intercept in his Final Phase. While his Punishment of Frustration is at max stacks, you'll be unable to reliably Stun or use your Striker to gain Prowess meaning you'll be limited to hitting his block with your first light attack.

Yeah you’re right, I just looked at the fight again. I forgot his final phase inverts how his charges work and I thought that’s how it was for the entire fight. It’s been a while so the final phase is the only one I really remembered

That's why I found it interesting, because I *know* I was at 2 stacks and performing my striker took it to 3, because it went from grey to orange during that striker.

I still don't get it, but I'm done with him now so I'll just shrug it off lol.

Now if I can remember how to fight 8.3 Cerastes. I'm an idiot that completed them 2 out of 3 times many moons ago and now I have to go back in and do it one more time.
