Ares specials

Well, first of all, I understand that's end game content and it's supposed to be hard, but come on... You have to guess which special his gonna use AND do different things for each special, and there's not even an indication of what to do, you have to memorize and fight, that's too much stress. I'm watching MSD stream, and boy.... What a pain

Tbh it wasnt hard to know only weapon i couldnt think the same was the sword and spear but wasnt too bad had to keep looking in abilities for the action but i still sucked as the random specials

I hadn't even watch the whole fight, now I did.... Oh how I was not prepared. On top of guessing the specials and doing certain actions, you have to counter with other certain attacks, plus he gets an Haste passive. WOW.

Tbh the weapons look more easier to memorize than Echantress actions

    Axe sp1
    Sword sp2

The sword can show on any as his specials are like glykhan random

I'll kindly ask people to do the fight and decide for themselves.

    First hit being the kick.
If it starts with axe it's sp1
If it starts with sword it's sp2.

That's the easy part, what about the combinations of movements?
The icons have written alphabets on them.
    There's fire icon for special,
    There's run icon for dashback
Have to follow the actions from left to right.

You are taking like they are going to change this boss cause you made a rage post on it.

Did I say, " there HAS to be" or "there should be"?
One indicates demanding, the other indicates how I WISH the fight WAS designed

Ngl this brings back memories of playing arcade games. 🤣

I’m having issues landing lights in the specials. Dexxing and parry are fine. But not a single light has worked for me. Anyone else having an issue with the timing?

Weird, you're assuming something I didn't say... But go off
Every comment I made on your rant is constructive. Despite that, you keep going off on more rants. Some people try to learn and adapt, and then there's you.
Good luck exploring this while keeping this temperament.
Dare you to tag the designer, pretty sure you know who designed this fight.

I have to use a couple expiring revives.

I liked the mechanics, pretty fun and hard fight , only think his sp2 first hit was way too fast to parry
  • Cpt_Awesomeo55Cpt_Awesomeo55 Member Posts: 110

It’s not even memorising what you have to do. That’s fine. It’s trying to react to what special he’s using. I’ve beaten him two times now and not once have I been able to parry the second sword attack of the SP2. The reaction time seemingly required is just physically too quick for me. And this is the guy that’s the repeating boss.

Currently got my hand submerged in boiling water and I’m having more fun than fighting Ares🫡

I think they need to open the timing window up a bit. I can’t tell if I’m going to early or too late for some of them

Hope they add reverse controls and randomised weapons with no pattern on specials next time we see ares as a boss.

Lowkey you're cooking, Ares Should activate reverse control in every SP and if you are immune to it he just goes red, hire this man.

C'mon, I tired to help at the beginning.
We, the players, have to find a way though this.
After a long time we all are fighting a boss without any guides to fall back on. It will take some getting used to.
I got cooked by him too. But I'm not gonna lose my sleep over it lol.
The rewards are potentially account changing for this minor pain and suffering.

    AXE =SP1 DPPLD
    Sword= Sp2 PPLDDU
They are random on activation but follow same pattern.

Thanks for this. Not that I've defeated him, but I know what to do now.

You can see which special he is going to throw, from the glow in his eyes , one flash for the sp1 and two for the sp2 .

I remember having lots of fun trying to do Akuma s hidden Super Special in Street Fighter. With a JOYSTICK. If KAbam tries to modify the game for PC as it seems recently, at least introduce the jump mechanic for the characters.

That and I saw seatins guide. He said look at his hands:
Right hand cross his body for Axe, sp1
    Left hand is sword, sp2

And Fintech said in a chat that:
    2 hands - sp1 axe
    1 hand - sp2 sword
It definitely made some things clearer.

The third phase where the extra combo mechanics come into play, (This is from my own experience) speak it out loud.
Medium heavy, dash back medium, medium special. It helps a lot.
The avoiding special is the easy part since it's a same pattern. 4 actions ( PPLD ) are common in both patterns.

It could have made a world of difference if the sp1 started with a kick, and the sp2 with a punch, just so you had an extra second to prepare. Throw in the phase 3 attacks you have to do after and the fact the added speed each phase messes with any chance of using muscle memory to give you just a little help, any little indication just to ease us in would have been happily accepted. Throw this "having to remember 80 different things" for the second or third time we encounter this guy in future content
