Higher EQ Energy Cost

In the last quest of EQ ‘Eye Opener’, instead of the usual 13 nodes per path there is now 15 nodes.
This doesn’t seem too much of an increase but that’s an extra 50 energy per difficulty and if you explore all difficulties that’s an extra 300 energy you have to spend for no given reason.
So is this a bug or an intended change?.
