Matchmaking working as intended?

  So you're a little further back than what I would imagine potential matchups could be spanning.
  Maybe potentially up to 22 teams in either direction of you (or at least, 22 away from teams at the top, since they don’t have any higher teams on the other side of them that could be faced).
  
  But those near the top probably have huge difference in War Rating versus once you go down a little and start to see many more start to have closer WR's.
  
  Wonder, since people were calling for War Boycotts, whether some higher up teams did actually NOT do wars this season (or changed during off-season, whether to not at all or lower # of BG's, and then didn’t bother changing it back or forgot in time for start of new season now yet).
  
  So maybe some of those other teams in between you were not part of the pool for this war (making it look further lopsided than what maybe it actually was, if indeed many teams took off) ?
