Which Story Boss(es) did you find the most challenging?

GreanGrean Member Posts: 1,405 ★★★★
I've been on like multiple full year breaks from the game so I wanna know how the newer players feel about different bosses in the game. For me the collector and the champion were really difficult, and for more recent bosses the only one i could really think of is maybe the 9.2 Jane Foster boss. How about Y'all?

Act 6.2 Champion pre-nerf and OG Grandmaster 6.4 pre-nerf. ALso OG Collector in Act 5 back then to get Uncollected.

The Grandmaster is the worst fight I've ever been in. Nowadays I know what his deal is and I just generally have a better know-how when it comes to fighting bosses, but he just seemed like another level of opponent when I fought him the first time. Despite the Collector and the Champion being special bosses beforehand, I just..I don't know. The GM was just on a whole different level compared to anyone I'd fought up until then.

It also didn't help that I had noped out of Act 6 for a very long time because I didn't enjoy it pre-nerfs. Then I decided to actually become Thronebreaker, so I beelined for the GM in a very short amount of time. That went well, but I didn't have any resources left when it was finally time for the GM. Back then there were no Daily Super Event or Apothecary revives to top up on, so you just kinda had to Unitman yourself through it. Since I was more or less out of both revives and units, I went into the fight hoping I could make do with a few 40% revives and maybe 400 units. That did not end well and I spent an entire week trapped in that quest.

Honorable mention: the Kang boss in the Tech Variant. I consider my struggles with him to be more me being stupid than him being hard, but I still think that his "Regen all health every 20 or so seconds" node to be super annoying. I didn't have a good counter at the time (I think you have to shock him or something to stop the regen?), so I was just throwing my head against the wall for way too long until I finally just gave up.

Then Kabam buffed Hulkbuster and I suddenly had a good option, and I think I solo'd the fight with him. I was so mad. Not that I'd beaten him but that it was so easy with the right counter.

I could never get the timing right to Grandmaster's special 1. So him.

I think even then, you had a few options, mainly Human Torch

Bahamet 'cause back then I didn't have any strong Cleanse champs in my roster. I had to Herc him down, and it took me probably 20-30 revives. Second worst is definitely Collector, I spent quite a few team revives to take him down originally. 7.3 Kang was also sort of challenging when I first fought him, especially in his final phase. I struggled to beat Kang in the sp3 race for quite a long time

    For me
1/ GM because he has a RC phase.
2/ The Collector has Unlockable special (when he feels like it).
3/ Any boss that loses no health unless we follow instructions.

I dont know about difficult these days but what I find the most annoying is the bosses where their phases dont change until you get their health fully down. It feels really lame during the fight

Nah these are the better ones. You don't need to pay attention to the health thresholds anymore, just the phase mechanics

I was lucky, when I first fought the original 6.2 champion i had sorcerer supreme.

My issue wasn't an absolute lack of counters in the game. More an absolute lack of counters in my roster.

6.2.6 Champion, not the noodle as he is now after the nerfs but the tyrant he was back in 2019. Anyone remember all the times you died with 3-4 prowess and go back to 0? ...
I still can feel the frustration all these years later.
