Can't Decide Between these 5 for my Next Rank 4

Focus is BGs. Trying to Push for Higher Ranks. These are my current R4s




I have some hesitations on what I can see being the 3 most popular votes:


Photon - Was trying to wait till we heard info on the Patriot buff. He was intended to be a hard counter upon release, and with spider woman also in decks, more would be running him alongside Xbones, Mantis etc.

Yelena (unduped) - Thinking since I already have Nick at r4, it might make more sense to pick from a different class, in case I get a skill r4 gem later on. If I take her to rank 4, and get the skill gem, then the best option would be bullseye , but then i'd be looking at 3 skill defenders at r4, which seems like overload.

Serpent - already have a cosmic in thanos, but dont mind the r4 since if i get a cosmic gem later, i can just use it on dark phoenix. But with him in the WOF selector, and everyone having him, i feel like theyre going to release a lot more counters (and actual good ones). Nico also is coming out.

    I R4 Spiderwoman and she’s a beast, the power stings are so satisfying. Everyone just wants to rank up meta like serpent and onslaught, but remember Nico is coming soon and she’ll prob be a hard counter to serpent and onslaught alr has counters, photon as well. So I’d say Yelena or Spiderwoman.

    Don't r4 any of them, all generic options. Maybe pick a champ u actually like, as in the character in comics/movies.

    Or rank who you enjoy most. No wrong answers. I personally R4’d yelena based on prestige. Same with dark phoenix and photon. Just happens I love playing the latter two. Yelena I gotta play more

    Ive heard Nico is a safe but slow option for Serpent

    Galan and infamous Ironman, as far as I remember, were the only champs who completely neutered a meta defender at that time (peni and bishop respectively). No other defender has been neutered by "one" single counter. People were afraid that bullseye will suck ever since nega release but we have like 20 bullseye counters and still he's one of the best defenders.

    One champ countering a defender doesn't mean sh*t. Go with photon the safest option and also class diversity. Great on defense and will be decent on attack at r4 as well.

    She'll be a better attacker, but photon is obviously wayy superior in defense. Spiderwomen is quite easy in defense as you can beat her with anyone, she's more of a stall if any.

    She'll be a better attacker, but photon is obviously wayy superior in defense. Spiderwomen is quite easy in defense as you can beat her with anyone, she's more of a stall if any.
    I think you want an evade counter or purify cause she can evade you, in addition to the fumble. Plus the inequity on debuffs. But yeah photon is better on D.

    Seriously. Silver Sable is a hard counter to Photon, you don't see that diluting the massive pool of Photon defenders. Patriot won't be a huge impact either.

    I feel the extra rank of serpent helps him more than the extra rank on photon. Yelena is going to destroy people no matter what rank unless they are good against her, in which case rank 3 v 4 won’t make too much of a difference.

    @Will3808 Yeah if they have a counter for photon , the r4 wont make much difference. Crossbones and mantis can punch up well at r3. Whereas serpent, theres more room for error against the mystics that fight him.

    Serpent. The others are great, but Serpent is just on another level.
    Even though there are plenty of counters now — like Kushala, Chavez, Isophene, Spiral, Shathra, and even White Tiger to some extent (maybe Nico too), he’s still an absolute powerhouse.
    If you’re into BGs, I’d definitely go with Serpent.
