Mcoc Poker is bad?

CeeejayyyCeeejayyy Member Posts: 5
Is it just me seeing this?
this new game mode poker being introduced as sidequest ist just bad.
The energy cost is enormous for a sidequest… mysterium values are extremely low and on top of that the mysterium store got kind of nerfed in my opinion…
i have a feeling i have used way more energy as for any side quest of 2025 combined until now, it‘s only week 1 and i have no real value?
am i missing something or is it really as bad as it feels?
i have the impression this was introduced to suck out our energy to stop us from farming…

It would make for a better arena replacement than monthly side quest replacement

Good thing mcoc isn't a fighting game. It's a card collecting game that happens to have fighting game mechanics. What is the new mode? A card game with fighting game mechanics!!!!!!!!

People play fighting games for real time pvp and complex combos, Mcoc has none of this.

Even if you don't like the mode there is no excuse for why you would want to go back to traditional side quests that gave horrible rewards and were time gated.

If we only could pull cards like these every time 🤩

I try to get 900 points every round, at 19k now…I’ll probably do 25-30k, if thats not enough…F… it 😎

@KabamPinwheel stated elsewhere that they’re just trying different ideas for side quests so they don’t feel stale and repetitive. I’m sure not everyone is going to like everything.

To me, the new game mode is fun, but after hearing talk of players who are at 1m+ points, I think I’m going to stick it out with my 60k and see where the chips fall. (Pun intended). This is a mode not based on how well you play, but how much you play. That might be the only thing I disagree with as far as scoring for the event goes.

Some prefer SQ that is over for the week after 5 minutes and doesn’t require tons of energy spend .

that is exactly the problem i see with this mode…
the energy requiremend is so unproportional unless you hit the jackpot several times in a row which is nearly impossible

I find it perfect for me. I'm always sitting on Energy Refills, and I enjoy it. I'm not playing straight-out, mind you. I hop on, do some hands for a bit, and log off. Maybe not every month, but I think this is great every so often.

Is this a fighting game like Street Fighter, Tekken or even Injustice? Nope. Its a GACHA fighting game.its not just a card collecting game as you claim. Then again you are the same guy who tried to play UNO with a "poker" deck....

If it's not a traditional fighting game then why do you care about an easy game mode. You're still fighting, it's not just a card game. The game is literally a tap tap swipe fighting game, do you really want to spend 5 minutes each round just to end up getting 10 points?

Can't really expect a lot from mobile players like you 😜. It's really obvious when I'm talking to people who only ever played mcoc.

The 3 games I named I played them. They are not easy games to play competitively because you gotta go to tournaments in person.
So when are you doing your big Whale BG post? Can't wait to add 1 more reason to the many I already got to laugh at you...
I do admire you self confidence though, its not easy to be as clueless as you are and not know it.

    I'm enjoying it.

I'm just happy to see them experimenting with side quests again. Anyone remember Rockets Scrapyard ?

I have never spent less time playing mcoc since joining back up. I start the game , do AQ/AW , 2 30 point games, one 10 point and then I'm done for hours.

I like it. It's something new and different. Plenty of room for tweaks but it's something more interesting than beat 5 guys in a row with one of either Dragon-Man, Sauron or Onslaught type quest number 70.

This mode is bad because it completely ignores what makes MCOC, MCOC, and turns it into an entirely different (card) game. We are given all the champions (no more collecting, no more gacha), all the champions are fully ranked up (no more RPG mechanics), the card game is the point of the mode (fighting is irrelevant), and I honestly don't care about the characters anymore (I'm no longer focused on which champion I am using and their abilities and trying to counter the defender's ability; now I'm just looking at color and number; the characters might as well be replaced by Spades and Hearts).

Yes, there is technically fighting in between each round, but it doesn't interact with the card game element at all. If you remove it entirely, the experience does not change at all in the slightest. Its presence is a glaring example of busywork that is just there so Kabam can point to it and say the mode is technically not just a card game.

There is potentially a missed opportunity there - objectives during the fight for bonus points. Imagine having the 3x point multiplier from energy, but also if you finish the fight with an SP3 it can become a 3.3x point multiplier. Or end the fight with <5% health with no heavies thrown for another 0.5x point multiplier. Or, if they don't want to fiddle with the point multiplier, have a victory objective that lets you choose from a Card Nexus.

To me it looks like a lot of development time wasted on something barely related to MCOC and only reason it's related is the fighting and the champions used. But even the champions don't really matter because you're looking at the factions and numbers. I appreciate the branching out and trying new things, but this just seems out of left field and doesn't fit MCOC. The only positive I have about it is the time it takes to complete a round. Nice to kill just a few minutes.

It's fun but damn I thought I had a chance at top 20% so I could just get all 3 points I need first week and focus on the title next 2 but damn I don't think 150k will be close to enough

An alliance member made an interesting point. The fighting element is currently a waste of time for no purpose. Maybe if they co-related the fighting to a better chance to pull a specific class or number range it would feel a bit more like the fighting had a purpose and the title would be more skill based.
