Im torn. It reads worse but maybe in practice it's better?

Now it stacks, originally it won't stack right? So it's a w i guess

Unless there's something they didn't mention, it's worse.

    Wait and see?

If it still lasts 15 seconds and his sig stays the same, it could be good for power control, but that takes away a big chunk of potential damage from Even and shifts it to Odd. If you want power control, stay with Evens and if you want damage, Odd a few times, then Evens. I think Leader's Power Dissolve is 3%, so 2% isn't that much unless you stack it, but we'll see. It might end up more potent, but only after jumping through hoops.

I think they were looking to give players a reason to use the SP2 with Odd.

They did explicit say it's not a nerf, well have to wait until gameplay but remember that he gains increased ability accuracy on combo so the rates are probably higher than this

Some of the numbers are better (was one 50% chance and now three 65% chances), but what was the likelihood they were going to say they nerfed anything? I'd like to see the explanation and demo of how his SP2 is better in practice. Right now, it's pretty good and the damage and power control are readily accessible. He's just too weak as a 6 star, even ascended.

The issue is the chance of it occurring didn't matter if he was awakened. So better for him being unawakened but worse overall.

Also making the power burn a steal instead is disgusting in a bad way. What the hell, Kabam?

Burn is being targeted as more of a tech ability than a mystic one, hence some cosmic champions being immune to burn and not steal

isn't the medium strictly worse? 1 Loa for half a bar of power seems awful. I mean sometimes I guess you rather throw the SP1... but there are better mechanics to allow for that (Deadpool X-force mechanic, fractured power bar, etc.)... and only netting 1 Loa for that much power is a bit of a joke.

Hard to see how this is an improvement in any way.

I think the idea was to make the Even SP2 power control and the Odd damage, where Even now has power control and damage and Odd was pretty much worthless most of the time except for keeping power low if you did it accidentally. Unfortunately, they picked Power Dissolve (and it's a debuff (boo!) instead of a passive effect (meh) or a buff he puts on himself (🤘!) that benefits from his sig (🤘 🤘!) = worse) and it doesn't do anything (except give free willpower healing) unless they're losing power, so you have to have already done an Even SP2 or an SP3 before the odd SP2 to get to the damage.

Unless I'm missing something, it would seem to be worse in general. They've pumped up a weak aspect a bit and took away what was actually really good.

Cycling Even SP2s would keep the opponent unable to perform any specials while doing steady damage... and now I see why they made it worse. Kabam, you're not slick with your Kabampaign to keep power control and regen sucking throughout the game. That's annoying. I was really looking forward to a Dr Voodoo strong enough to take to rank 4. Now I'll have to see how annoying this new loop is before I put resources towards him.

I guess to be fair to them, they did label these as reworks and reworks are not necessarily buffs. Even though that's dumb

Takes a bit of a 💩 on the rebirth idea/integrity to do that, if that's how they're going to go about their business

I'm more concerned with what isn't mentioned - poison and all the poison immune cosmics. They gave Yondu rupture instead of bleed and Nico acid wash so that they can handle their target matchups. If they leave his SP1 unchanged, what is DV's matchup supposed to be?

Yeah I agree. Not to mention his buff control is plain nullify. He arguably got the worst buff out of the bunch, despite having the most potential. I'm very disappointed.

It's only his heavy that he consumes power no?

They didn't label them as reworks at all, they listed them as tune ups

I will absolutely miss his old SP2 because I loved the burn, but this isn't a nerf at all and I can understand why they made the change.

Annihilus (Cosmic Control Rod), Deathless Thanos (synergy), Galan, Galan's heralds, Gladiator, Hulkling, King Groot (both), Phoenix, Red Goblin, Venom (Klyntar), Venompool, Vox. All immune to Power Burn.

Aarkus, Air-Walker, IWIM (per Armour), Serpent - Resistant to Power Burn.

That's a pretty massive list and they're almost all cosmic. Add to the fact that several of those are also poison immune, his power burn is negated by the class he's supposed to have advantage against and his utility and ability are pretty hampered.

    Now, looking at Power Steal

Annihilus (Cosmic Control Rod), Cassie Lang, Count Nefaria, Hulkling, Photon, Sauron, Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew). Immune to Power Steal.

Aarkus, IWIM (per Armour), Sentinel (Synergy) - Resistant.

I get it and agree, the loss of the additional utility and direct damage hurts. But shifting focus to give him even more access to Power Steal actually aligns him more with the Mystic class, strengthens his ability overall and actually feels like a net positive here.

They shifted Voodoo from being a rather strong generalist when it comes to power control (he had Burn, Steal and Drain) to more of a specialist (focused on Steal with a bit of Drain).

I'll wait until I've play tested it myself before I give full feedback, but on paper this does look positive. Sucks to lose that unique utility from the burn, but I don't at all agree it will make him worse.

The last part is part of my biggest concern. I was very excited for Voodoo as a 7* (with hopefully a little more damage) and now I’m more wait n see. I liked that the even sp2 was able to do it all, now looks like we have to choose. Also I liked when champs are more “general” because I can use them in so many scenarios, versus so much of the game where champs are basically only a go-to in a few match ups. Magik and Voodoo were always my favorite 2 power control champs in the game and I haven’t been able to play them for a long time. Fingers crossed on his kit allowing him to still be most hope for.

I've about had my fill of "we have to robotically follow class tendencies, because it's super duper important except for all the times we don't feel like doing it".

If power burn (and poison, for that matter, but he's still got poison?) aren't as effective for a Mystic against Cosmics, give him some other things that fill the same roles, but isn't either of those! Shockingly enough, those things are already in the game and all they had to do was use them!
