Losing dark artefacts?

So why am I losing instead of gaining dark artefacts? Every time I check I have less? What with the connection issues and chat breakdowns I am not a happy player. This had so much promise butbis proving a touch annoying now. Am I missing something obvious but I don’t remember reading anywhere that we get charged dark artefacts.

    Dammit so I genuinely can’t read. After several strong beers I become legally blind and extremely belligerent.
