AW matchmaking

Is it just us or are other allys having issues with matchmaking? We are a 6.7 million ally and we either match 8 and 9 mil, or we match 4 and 5 mil. Either way it's not fun. All we really want is a fair fight, and we haven't been able to get one in a while.

It's a common problem in tiers 2-5. It is all based off of your war rating. It stinks, but if you win even 50% of the time it's still good from a shards standpoint.

It matches on war rating, not alliance rating.

in truth, i have always thought that this should match on prestige.

well actually a modified prestige calculated from the average of the top 11 champs.

I think this would reliably generate significantly more balanced matches.

It's not just you or the top tiers either, it's an overall problem with matchmaking that many people complain about.

A friend of mine whose alliance is only like 600-700k keeps getting matched up with alliances in the 5-7 mill range and gets decimated because of it.

They really need to revamp match making so it gives people a better chance to win instead of what it does occasionally

That would get pretty old for sure. What's their war rating?

I think actually their old system, when they took rating into acocunt, sucked. It was so easy to influence by selling champs. I'm glad they just look at war rating now. Better would be indeed modified prestige stuff (I would go for top 20 champs though, after all, normal prestige is top 5 and AQ only uses 3 champs). But with the current system, at least you get matched up only with people that got to the same tier/war rating as you.

I concur. Top 20 would cover AQ/AW both. Plus it covers if a person's top 11 champs are not placed in war, nor used on AQ/AW attack.

I did ask to Kabam support ,here what they say about it,

"The AW matchmaking system depends on a wide variety of variables, the first being accessibility. Matchmaking can occur at different times and sadly there is no way for us to know when the Alliances closest to you are available. The game attempts to make the closest match, if there is no close match found the game widens the search field until a match is found, which could sometimes include Alliances that have a much higher PI. The game does this to ensure that Alliances aren't waiting for an extended period of time before a match is found."

They havent been togther to long and are only 462 right now, it seems like every few wars they run into some new highly powered upcoming alliance that just steamrolls over everyone in their path.

    https://forums.playcontestofchampions.com/en/discussion/4123/war-group-mismatch#latest

I posted on it earlier this month, they were 300 at that time, then a little while after that they ran into a 5 mill while they were 400, then a 7 mill one all in the span of a few weeks.

Not sure if they've run into any more monster ones yet, It's a little hard to compete and rise in the ranks when the alliance is way way bigger than you and out matches yours in every category.

For the most part my alliances war matches have been somewhat even with the exception of a few that we're way higher and a few that we're way lower.

    it depends on war rating

My experience is, and this is simply theory, that it takes into account 3 factors. Alliance Rating, Average Player Rating, and War Rating. The default is the WR. The computer applies all 3 factors into account when searching for an Ally at the time you Match. The least viable is the Alliance Rating because APR is the more precedent. If there is no Ally with similar AR or APR, the default is the closest WR. It all depends on who is Matching at the same time you are. I could also consider Alliance Rating not being a factor, since Average Player Rating is more common.

I am starting to think the higher you get in a tier the more it relies on war ratings vs alliance rating. I find as we get higher in T2 we are more likely to get a 10mil+ alliance.

As we get a lower rating within the tier we are more likely to get an even or lesser alliance.

Maybe that's just happening based of the amount of alliances within that level that have similar or lesser rating to us too.

Depends on war rating, we always get matched with the alliance 2 times stronger with low war rating, ALWAYS
