Yondu should be tagged as "#Guardian"

In Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Baby Groot says, "I AM GROOT."
= "Welcome to the [frickin'] Guardians of the Galaxy" (except he didn't use "frickin'")
Why is Yondu not tagged as a Guardian for the Guardian hero use event?

Why is Yondu not tagged as a Guardian for the Guardian hero use event?

This game seems to be going with primary affiliations. Many characters change teams at some point. Trying to cover all of them would be tedious.
Yondu was an ORIGINAL GUARDIAN in the comics.
He should be tagged as a Guardian.
A version of Yondu was an original Guardian. That version of Yondu isn't in the contest. We have the MCU version of Yondu, who was a Ravager for decades and an honorary Guardian for a few minutes.
Extending your logic, Star Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Groot, or Drax wouldn't be Guardians as they weren't part of the original team. Thankfully, that's not how this game works.
I’m sure there is a method to the madness, it probably isn’t based in solely MCU or comics, but probably an amalgamation of the two.
The Agent Venom in this game is pulled from the comics where he is predominantly a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Seems logical. The MCU has no bearing on this.
Iron Man, Ant Man, and Captain Marvel are all relatively new additions to the Guardians and have much stronger affiliations with other teams. Ant Man and Iron Man are far more tied to the Avengers than they are the Guardians. Again, we aren't going to list every affiliation in the Contest, just the most relevant one.
I'm not terribly familiar with Angela, but they seem to be playing up the Asgardian angle in the contest over any team affiliation.
Your logic is equally applicable to SL, you're just choosing to selectively apply it. Yondu is, for all intents and purposes, a Guardian.
You'll have to explain what you mean. Just stating that I'm wrong doesn't make for a compelling discussion.
You're right, my logic is equally applicable to Star Lord. Let me show you what I mean.
The original Star Lord was around in the 70's in the comics but he had nothing to do with the Guardians of the Galaxy. This version of Star Lord (from Marvel Premiere) occurs in an alternate reality. This is very similar to Yondu, who's original comic appearance took place in an alternate reality from the mainstream Earth-616 reality. In other words, the heroes we know in the main continuity (Spider-man, Hulk, Iron Man, etc) don't exist in the same reality as the original Star Lord or the original Yondu, neither of which are represented in the Contest.
The original comics Star Lord has nothing to do with the Guardians of the Galaxy. If he ever gets added to the Contest, he wouldn't have a #Guardians tag. The original comics Yondu was a founding member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. If he's ever added to the Contest, he would have a #Guardians tag.
The Star Lord we know from the movies and current comics got his start in the mid 2000's and formed the Guardians team featuring Drax, Gamora, Rocket, and Groot. This version is the inspiration for the MCU version of Star Lord that most of us know. The MCU version of Star Lord is the one in the Contest and his primary affiliation is with the Guardians of the Galaxy, so the #Guardians tag is warranted.
