Duping a champ in arena

Hi everyone, I apologise for the ignorance, I have only been playing for 4-5 months and still working some things out.
I was after some advice in the arena please. I have a Luke cage 4* ranked 5/50 unduped. I noticed his character is available for a top 10% placement in the arena. Would this unlock his signature ability? It says no other awards are awarded for duplicate champs but wasn't sure if it unlocks their signature ability. Anyone know? Thanks in advance
