Ties actually happen a lot... especially in offseason when two tanking alliances match up. If both sides got victory bonus why even play AW in offseason - everyone can just not place AWD, 100% no items victory bonus for all! (Though tanking alliances are more after reduction in rating)
Awarding defeat rewards prevents this mentality of victory rewards for nothing which would have been wide spread before AW seasons started
For a tie both alliances used to get full “loss” War Rating penalty - they changed that recently to be closer to 0 to prevent tanking I assume but also remove some of the unfairness. IDK why it isn’t exactly 0. Your rating shouldn’t move up with a tie. Think of boxing if the #3 and #4 ranked boxers face off and end in a draw there is no logical way either should leap frog #2 just because they fought to a tie and gained points for doing so (assuming #2 hasn’t taken an absence/cupcake fights). Maybe this is why they move a little - get you close to even war rating?
Rewards are tricky part. Don’t think you can ever split total victory 50-50. The incentive to win one / lose one needs to be greater than 2 ties. Therefore maybe for a tie give both alliances 25% of victory rewards delta above defeat rewards. Real world sports you can’t have collusion that you have here - if neither side tried since they settled 50% rewards for 0 effort, people would stop watching the sport, they would lose revenue and their would be no purses in the future. You may say that would never happen here... then I just need to point to how people used to do 2* wars to prevent item / unit use in wars
I can’t see if you fought fairly either - maybe you placed all 2*, maybe your deaths were intentional. You would need some sort of algorithm with many checks to define fairly or watch videos of every AWD placement and fights
No I am not saying you cheated. You stated "Can't you see both team fought fairly and did completed 100pc?"
All I was saying is I can't see you both fought fairly just because you posted the resulted. Not saying you cheat but more responding to your question that by just seeing results can I see without a doubt it was "fair".
Kabam can't audit every war in the detail that would be needed to catch all levels with cheating. Yes, they have gotten better with time with some system checks but will never be at the level of checking everything. Therefore, for some situations you have to setup rewards that may seem unfair on the surface to prevent incentive to cheat. In these cases it is often the many who bare the cost of the few but that is no different than how law abiding citizens pay more insurance then their risk would imply to offset the costs of fraud that criminals do.
Actually, there's participation rewards, which you should get for participation, and loss rewards as well as win rewards. If you still both get loss rewards when tying, you should consider yourself lucky, because you should really only receive participation rewards.

Technically neither team lost so why should they get defeat rewards? Think before you speak.

Maybe tied rewards should be given, but the WR should stay same as they have it now
Ok, neither team won and neither team lost. No rewards for either, then. Sound better?
