What exactly is the point of Rift Quests expiring in an hour?

Just curious if there was actually a reason, other than to punish casual players for basically nothing and deny rewards

    It’s to make people buy energy when they get excited and go in without realizing it costs 4 energy a tile. 4 years of playing. Gets me every single time.
