Here is my roster of 7 stars. I have 2 1-2 rank up gems should I wait for better champs or rank up 2 of these?

I definitely don't have the skill to solo the saga incursions for the lights essence and flames. I've been sitting on match making for an excessively long time. Do I just give up on lumatrix and dark pheonix?
