I'll start by saying, I don't have anything against these. but the execution just seems too forced. Like it's just trying to rub it in our face or something.
Just saying, this whole sort of stuff could easily be avoidable if the irrelevant stuff to the game were made irrelevant. We already have plenty of characters from many races and sexual orientation. Almost all of them weren't sold on being like that. This shouldn't be different, just introduce the characters without coming up with the marketing about them being this and that. Bringing these toxic subjects to a game like this one is never a good idea (toxic in the meaning of the unnecessary chaos and controversies it creates in real life).
But I get that Marvel is likely the one forcing these stuff, and that whole concept of company=money whatever.

Did it seem forced when Guardian was released for Canada Day? Or Sam Wilson for Black History Month?

Forced? Once or twice a year we get things like this. But it's forced? So then everything white and straight is forced the other 10 months of the year.
That's one of the most antiquated arguments I've heard. It's a half-acceptance. "It's okay as long as I don't have to see it." I'm going to take a moment here and be educational. The reality is people don't have to hide their heterosexuality. Whether it's media, entertainment, stories, society....it's ingrained in our culture. Yet it's called being obvious, forced on people, and too overt if same-sex couples are seen. The reality is, all people have the right to express themselves. I'd love to have a world where we don't have to dedicate a month, or even a day, to showing people it's okay to be themselves. That's unfortunately not the world we live in yet. There have been major strides and people have come far. However, some are still being rejected, beaten, murdered, driven to drug abuse and suicide, denied jobs, shunned, and the list goes on and on. At the risk of talking on outside issues, I feel it's important to point out that the basis of Pride is to show all people there is hope and inclusion. Not to challenge those who don't agree. As long as people are still dying, which is a very real possibility in some countries, then it is still necessary. My final thought is this. I'm humbled that this is being included in the game. We are a part of society, cultures, the world in general. Including one thing does not take away from another.

So you don’t like it because you noticed it? It would be fine if they were quietly gay over in the corner, but since they held hands on screen it’s rubbing it in your face?
The whole reason it’s overt is so that players who are part of the LGBT+ community can see it and feel included, feel involved and celebrated like straight people are in every show or movie ever. Being gay is a crime in many countries, it’s persecuted all over the world and is rife with discrimination. Because if that, it’s important as hell to celebrate representation when we can, and sometimes that won’t be quiet.
If a straight couple were on screen and held hands, helped each other up and fought the opponent would you care? Would you say “stop rubbing our face in the straightness”? Or is it just because it’s during pride month? If the two gay characters were introduced in another month, when it wasn’t pride month would you still think it was rubbed in your face?

Fantastically put. A straight couple on screen nobody cares. A gay couple? Stop rubbing it in our face.
When you’ve been privileged, empowered and represented your whole life, equality can feel like discrimination
I’m a straight white male, every show or film I’ve ever watched has had me in it. So what if there’s a gay person, a black person or a woman? Pipe down and let others be involved and celebrated too

I agree. I've heard the argument that there's no "Straight Pride" many times, and to that I say, be grateful you don't need one.

Herc has a gay romance synergy, yet people don’t mind that. The argument being made isn’t that gay people shouldn’t be added into the game. It’s the way Hulking and Wiccan are being added into the game feels forced…

It’s representing LBGT+ people during pride month, and it literally had them holding hands and helping each other up. My question is that if you feel that that’s forced then would you feel the same if it was a straight couple? Would you feel that heterosexuality was being rubbed in your face?

Forced or a brilliant marketing move It’s pride month and kabam is entitled to celebrate it by releasing featured champions that are tied to it. Wiccan and hulking are pretty much the face of marvel queer relationships and they would have been added to the game sooner or later due to their popularity in comics. Seems like a brilliant move to release them now if not next year June. Black history month got misty and Sam, was it forced? Please Maybe next year and going forward expect gay themes during pride month (by parties that celebrate it) so it doesn’t feel “forced”. It’s like saying gifting event is “forced” during Christmas. What were you expecting?
Marvel has always been about celebrating and championing diversity, and I'm very proud that we get to carry that on in-game.
The X-Men have always been probably one of the most obvious allegories for a plethora of civil rights movements in the past, and I think that's the reason many of us have felt so attached to them. They have long given many of us that felt different a sense of belonging and a way to feel "seen" and people to identify with. For many of us, it wasn't until years later that there were more literal representations of ourselves in the Comics/Shows/Movies we loved, and it makes me so happy to see that we are finally able to add an LGBTQ+ couple to the game.
People often call small gestures like this "political", but it is absolutely not. Gay people exist and saying that is not political. When you say something like that, you are adding to the ongoing perception that some people's lives are "political", and that their sheer act of existing is a political statement.
We are not going to tolerate any Homophobia here. We have an entire event dedicated to Pride coming up, and it's the kind of Pride event WE want to throw, full of referential humour, and celebrating the diversity of our players, team, and our Champions.
You are free to not play the event, but we are not going to listen to your reasons for not wanting to play it. They are not necessary and are more hurtful than you might think.
For the record, from the moment that the Champion reveal trailer went live, the negative comments have been few and far between. We know that we have an amazing community that is very welcoming and kind.
We're looking forward to celebrating Pride with you all this June, and can't wait to share what we've been working on!

"Rub it in our face"??
This is the first time kabam have introduced LGBTQ characters and made a nod to that in the champion reveal teaser (correct me if there are other instances)
Nobody has made a problem for recieving straight characters for like the games entire existence and it happens once and suddenly a bunch of ppl flip their lids...can't be a coincidence

I would just like to say that there were people the did/do mind that synergy
So uhh back to the topic at hand...Wiccan sounds interesting but Hulkling on the other hand doesn't excite me as much. Cosmics in general I find to be a bit boring but we'll have to see

You'd be surprised. There were the same issues when herc was added. And people naive enough(bless them) to ask why herc had a romance with wolvy

Don't even get me started on X-Men, they left that niche years ago. Now instead of the minorities they were supposed to represent they're basically being your average conservative extremist's view on said minorities.
Gotta admit, I was hoping for Wiccan to get paired with Speed, for obvious reasons, but that works better here, especially given we're about to get QS anyway. My only complaint is that this quarter is a bit mystic-heavy the same way previous one was with mutants. It's probably gonna balance when we consider whole year though.
Marvel has always been about celebrating and championing diversity, and I'm very proud that we get to carry that on in-game.

Thanks Miike. Of all of the things someone could have issues with in game, this really isn’t one of them. Hope it’s a great month.
Alright, gonna close this down now. Thank you to everybody that shared their POV on the addition of Hulkling and Wiccan, and a Pride event. Special thanks to those that shared their opinions on the event and pride from the inside! This just has too much potential to blow up further and I don't want that to happen here.

For the record, from the moment that the Champion reveal trailer went live, the negative comments have been few and far between. We know that we have an amazing community that is very welcoming and kind.
We're looking forward to celebrating Pride with you all this June, and can't wait to share what we've been working on!
