Go to your champ list. Select a low level 1 or 2 star champ. Click Practice. Select your highest level champ and click Duel. Wait for your defender to assume a blocking stance. Hit into that block. They will die.
Blocking only reduces damage by a set amount, accounting for block proficiency stats, armor, physical resistance, as well as opponent armor and block penetration stats. This is why an opponent with high damage and high offensive stats will deal damage through your block, and you through theirs as well to a lesser degree.
This is why maximizing dodges and intercepts is a useful skill to mitigate damage taken from standing around and holding block.

tbh I don't care what the whales buy. They can spend money anytime and buy this stuff with units anyway. The only people being punished by increasing costs are smaller accounts

It being champion specific was unusual, and sometimes annoying, but doable.
My personal issues were 1). it costing 25 energy points per entry. It should have been 15, and 2). the defender often being too passive.
Overall, I enjoyed this new mode that took us somewhere different.
