Because there was no guarantee - I still have one offs I can’t pull that have been in the basics since the beginning. And my 27 crystals didn’t net any guardians. (I wasn’t lucky enough to get 27 more later). So decided to go for it. Of course now it looks really stupid, hindsight tends to work that way when Kabam offers a carrot for a reasonable price and then gives the carrot away a few weeks later after you already spent.
