The Blubberiest Whale in the Ocean
You know me. I have the sixth-largest account in the game and the highest Prestige in the world. On average, I have spent more than $25,000/year on this game, and sometimes a lot more. I am privileged to be in this position. I am very mindful of that. It seems to me that you need to be reminded of the fact that you exist because of the players, and not the other way around.
The last time I failed to buy a newly released champion from early release bundles was The Serpent in March 2024. To be sure, I think I spent at least $1,500 trying for him, but no dice. Guess what? You didn't nerf The Serpent. You didn't nerf Onslaught, or Enchantress. But, you nerfed "defensive" Spider-woman. And you made sure to nerf her by also nerfing her offensive kit. You advertise **** logic, and then you even go against that. You could have just removed SW's Ensnare on defense, and despite all of the loud community voices calling for that, you decided to nerf her on offense anyway. Your disingenuous nature continues to be noted.
I have often read and heard it said, "Kabam needs money. They don't need your money." Well, they **** need mine. No matter how good Dracula or Frankendurrdurr are, I am not buying them. What faith would I have, even if they are good, that they would be allowed to be good just a few months later? None.
Kabam, you did this. It's fantastically unfortunate that your processes have led to so many enthusiastic players being so disillusioned with your game. From my perspective, leave SW alone, or at least leave her Ensnare on offense. But that's not going to happen, is it? NO ONE should buy any of your newly released champs. If you do, you could be buying a Lexus that is PLANNED to become a Mercury Cougar.
To anyone that has any comments about my spend or whatnot, you should know that I would have to try a lot harder to care about you. I'm the players' advocate. If you insist on being a poverty shill for Kabam, then have fun with that.
Re: Was he taken out back?
MCOC, and games like it, are not typical businesses. I would not continue a partnership with someone advocating a boycott against my business, because a boycott against my business is in effect advocating terminating my customers’ relationship with me. But whether a player spends or not in MCOC is not the sole avenue for a player relationship with the game. The vast majority of players do not spend. Many people, myself included, advocate not spending unless you really want to, that it is perfectly acceptable to play for free, and in fact I’ve documented many strategies for doing so. Kabam is not putting out hit squads on me because of my arena unit farming guide. At least, not that I’m currently aware of.
In and of itself, whether a CCP member advocates spending or advocates not spending is, as far as I am aware, immaterial to their standing in the CCP. If a CCP member started advocating quitting the game completely, say, that might be different. It would then be illogical for them to be a part of the content creator program for the game.
Re: The Blubberiest Whale in the Ocean
I’m guessing you don’t work in a business where you’re selling things to customers in a competitive marketplace.
Re: The Blubberiest Whale in the Ocean
Numbers don't lie. Kabam's MCOC revenue is down 50% over their 2020 numbers. Five years, and 50%. You can argue about COVID, or anything else, but the game is reeling. Kabam's response has beento bleed the remaining player base dry. There is no one in their right mind who will replace me in a setting where Kabam's plan to bleed the players dry is to be this anti-player. Eventually, the loss of revenue adds up. And all the people defending the indefensible are left with nothing to defend. Only Kabam can decide if they are trying to keep the game running. I assume that they have an end-game date already.
Re: The Blubberiest Whale in the Ocean
I'm higher than all of those guys. I've finished top-6 in Banquet several times. Focus less on the money and more on what is pro-player, pro-fairness, and pro-fun.
Re: Excitement for new champs is dead
That's valid, but it still is reliable. You know when it will get placed (its on a timer), and you know how long it is for.
Kabam cites removing Ensnare so the player doesn't have to deal with it on a regular basis. That seems pretty reliable, no?
There are differences on being able to trigger it, but its not that much different from Jabari Panther needing to wait till she gets enough power so she can throw her SP1 to get Ensnare, or her needing to wait till she gains enough charges to start the hunt. Someone could compare the two champions and see how often the ensnare is able to be placed by e
Re: September dev diary.
It’s the fact that they said she was alright offensively and that defensively she had an issue. Then used that to try to get us to not focus on her offensive nerf that gets to me.
Idk about you all but for me, I’m done spending since they got what they wanted. Nerfing Spider Woman. I’m not supporting a company who repeatedly tries to manipulate their customers.
After Serpent not getting nerfed and the 10 year anniversary being a huge bust, I left for months. Then came back to what the past few months have been.
Getting closer and closer to just giving up on Kabam and this game.
Re: SW nerf still bullsh*t
the difference here is Swoman is within the window to stop broken AAR. While i would have loved for it to stay, i think we got a decent compromise in the end.
Re: September dev diary.
No one said they were abolishing all strong Defenders. They said SHE was stronger than they intended.
Re: September dev diary.
They make an effort and pivot, and people are still not happy.
I'm all for bringing forth issues and voicing concerns, but when the company admits fault and makes adjustments, you have to acknowledge that. Otherwise people aren't going to feel appeased no matter what effort they make, and there's no sense in discussing it.
