I'll give a solution which could resolve both. Take away defensive issue without attack.
Some champs have synergies with themselves like Herc, Doom and Vox.
Problem: Ensnare to be removed because of defensively it's too powerful
Solution: Remove Ensnare from base kit, then add a synergy with herself and add it there, that way it will be available as an attacker

I don’t even know what to say. I’m extremely frustrated about this on several levels.
- The framing of how this is “not an offensive nerf” because “we haven’t seen spider-woman need a solution to evade across her matchup spread.” You must be joking. The evade counter is great if a node creeps into her matchup spread that causes evade. It allows her to land her power stings even in these matchups. If this truly wasn’t an offensive nerf, you would have only made this go into effect ON DEFENSE. You can make this a thing!! Why are we robbing a champ of her utility ON OFFENSE AND DEFENSE IF THIS IS A DEFENSIVE NERF!!? If we are going about this chain of thought, why not remove Thanos’s panic debuff on defense and offense? Cause Zola and red skull don’t have evade or miss? Nothing about this change is adding up in any kind of logical way except you randomly selected a new champ that was powerful and robbed her of part of her kit
- Really? This is the champ receiving a nerf? Not serpent? Or enchantress? Or onslaught? This is where we draw the line? Spiderwoman with these changes will still be taken by the same counters she had before. This is an absolute asinine decision
- If you really wanted to make a defensive nerf, remove her fumble debuff, not something that has uses on attack too.
I’m so over this decision-making. I invested all of these materials into a character, and now the team is nerfing her. I’m not spending a dime on this game anymore or until they make massive swings in the other direction. Cause right now? The game feels awful, and every facet is getting worse over time and not better

The change to Spiderwoman under the guise of being beneficial to us is a very hypocritical and unnecessary change.
Kabam has created a very difficult challenge for themselves, which they are not handling well.
Any change Kabam makes to any champion for any reason now has to go through the filter of Bullseye, Enchantress, Serpent, and Dark Phoenix. Since those champions are allowed to exist as they are, Kabam needs to have a DAMN good reason for changing any other champ in a negative way.
Kabam, you have created minibosses wrapped up in a champion skin and let them run loose and wreck people's enjoyment of this game for way too long. Any change that even slightly nerf or tunes down a champion's ability that isn't one of those 4 will immediately be met with scrutiny and negative backlash, and you have to know this.

Until the last two sentences aren’t true for the whales, just expect more disconnected nonsense. This game is being run by bean counters. it’s a shame they waste energy trying to gaslight us with fake logic and gaming buzzwords (balance, economy, etc)… seems like the bean counters could save some money if they avoided that too.

Sure, but if you're using "think of the new player" and "timers" for arguments, why are Arc Overload nodes and most other node interactions acceptable?
And, per your logic, Karolina's swapping sunlight would also throw off new players yet Kabam is fine releasing complicated champions in general.

I wouldn't even see this as an issue if they would just be honest that they want to tune her down offensively. Instead they try to perform mental gymnastics as to why this isn't hurting her offensively, when it CLEARLY is. That's what I'm frustrated about. Why can't they just be honest? Or are the balance team truly so out of touch with the game that they don't get how an evade shutdown ability is offensively huge? Either way is not good.

As is the case 9/10 times with Kabam drama, the biggest issue is with communication / delivery. They write a paragraph explaining how great she is offensively but that they won't be changing her offensively. Then in the next paragraph they say they are removing an effect that I would say is 50/50 offensive and defensive and try to convince us that it won't effect her offensively.
I would have no problem if they just said, she's a 10/10 offensively so we feel comfortable nerfing one tiny offensive aspect to make her a 9.5/10 offensively. Them trying to convince us it will have no effect is far more frustrating than just saying they are nerfing her a tiny bit.
And all that is on top of them (for some unexplainable reason) just gaslighting us into thinking they can't remove it on defense only. I seriously don't even mind the actual change they plan to make. JUST BE STRAIGHT FOWARD AND HONEST WITH YOUR COMMUNICATION!!!

I’m really starting to wonder who’s making all these terrible decisions this year what the hell happened to the 2023-2024 design team… anyways yeah this change does absolutely nothing on defense and only makes her worse on attack, the usual counters like Cull Bullseye Okoye and Red Guardian still nuke her and anything that doesn’t straight up shut down that evade or have tranquilize either times out or takes a f**k ton of damage. The fumble still puts her way above that 3.5/5 if they truly wanted to lower her defensive potential then that’s what should’ve been removed not the ensnare, now there’s a decent chunk of matchups she can no longer do on attacks because of this bs.
To anyone who pulled Karolina, get ready to see that glancing be nerfed to the ground too, don’t r4 until the announcement is made.
