I could be wrong, but it thought the reference for "don't worry about hitting the milestone" was for the realm event, ie crucible, and not the alliance event for relics.

The relic event is not a realm event.

It's not just the mystic class, there are other defenders from other classes who also punish crits like Onslaught Sinister Thing Capt. Britain Jean and Solvarch. The changes you're suggesting would make him terrible if not useless against all these defenders + the mystic ones you already mentioned yourself.

He's fine with no crits, what he needs is increased potency to his furies and trauma debuffs so they actually deal insane damage.

As for Man-Thing, I'm in Q1 and I still run my r3 in my deck (not this current meta but I was on the last one. He's a decent trap defender and even with certain champs like Nefaria it takes a good amount of time to take him out. As for Abs and Doom, we will probably have both as 7* soon and when that happens, Rhino's value would drop even further if they actually let him crit.

He is one of the simplest champs i have seen since silk.

Because the mystic class is known for having tanky defenders that have either crit resistance or straight up immunity to crits? I do agree he needs more damage based on what I saw on the video but he doesn't need to crit, that would make him worse against the few relevant mystic defenders other than Kindred.
