People were saying that last year, and you can see from the points chart (which has all of 2024 for comparison) that at no point did points suddenly drop off, because most of the points coming in now (as opposed to the gigantic pulse on day one and the huge but not as big burst on the first day of sales) are likely from players who are nowhere near these top milestones anyway. Most of the points from here on out are going to come from the slow and steady players that just keep chugging along opening crystals and occasionally buying whatever from day to day, probably not even aware of the discussions going on regarding the banquet.

It’s those slow and steady (and mostly oblivious to our ramblings) players that are going to carry us to the finish line. Most of us who care about these top tier milestones already have most of our points baked into the score. I might buy one last batch of crystals myself, but that will be no more than 20% of my total points in the event.

If anything, there was a mad scramble to open crystals on the last day of the event in 2024 that I did not originally expect (or rather, did not expect to be that high). Since we get free crystals and such from the content over time, many players wait until they have them all and open them all at once, which probably accounts for that bump at the end. Free crystals only count 100 points for opening them since we don’t buy them, but collectively those free crystals accounted for a noticeable burst of points at the end.

Last year the 10% cut off was around 22k points. This year that would not be enough to even qualify for the KP/Abs selector. 90% of the players are likely never even going to reach that juicy reward, but they are probably the ones still trickling in points now. They don’t score a ton of points individually, but there are a lot of them (probably around a quarter million of them score below the selector).

They didn't have to add all these new milestones, so complaining about it makes no sense

I don't want to act like a Kabam shill or whatever, but remember that we're talking about STRETCH milestones: in other words, anything after the Almighty Baldy Bros (registered trademark, fyi) is not to be taken for granted, by definition.

If you don't think they're worth it, simply don't spend any more units after the Kingpin/AbsMan selector or whatever milestone you find valuable. Unless you're not spending for the rank rewards, but then that's your focus, and the stretch milestone would be simply a bonus (i.e. better having them than nothing).

I don't get why complaining about that of all the things you could criticize about this event.

Anything beyond kingpin/absman are extra/bonus/stretch rewards.

Also, food for thought. We’re now entering the realm of milestones higher than what we scored last year. Of course, Kabam would probably hope the banquet this year would be more engaging, and thus score more points, but when these rewards were sketched out there was no way to know if, and how much, higher we would go. There’s a lot of good rewards between 4.2 and 5.2 billion, the high end of where we ended up in 2024. Kabam could have swapped up some of those rewards, put some of those rewards in milestones 34 through 37 and swapped the Titan shards down into the lower rewards, so there wasn’t this “lull” in the rewards above milestone 33 and 5.2 billion points.

But that would mean taking some of those juicy rewards and moving them to positions higher than we reached in 2024, which means there would be a possibility we would never reach them. By placing them lower and keeping the stretch of Titan shards higher, it was far more likely we would reach them, and also a significantly larger number of players would qualify for them. Milestone 33 requires 31200 points and milestone 37 requires 33120 points. Using 2024 as a guide, my guess is the difference between those two is about 2-3 thousand players in rank. In other words, there are a few thousand players out there that would be much happier with the current reward configuration compared to the one that paced these rewards out differently.

We’re going to hit all of these rewards either way. Given the current data, it’s all but guaranteed. So for those of us that have enough points to qualify for them, the order doesn’t really matter. For those of us that don’t have enough points to even reach these milestones, it also doesn’t matter. And for the players who are landing right in the middle of these milestones and for whom the order does matter a great deal, they are coming out ahead.

Nobody loses, some people win. I’d say we should try to keep some perspective here before getting too down on these milestones. Sometimes front loading can look disappointing when we pass the front loaded area. But we should keep in mind that front loading that looks boring to us is helping thousands of our fellow players, and hurting us not at all. Let a few more of them snag those rewards: we can take a short stretch of Titan shards while we wait for higher milestones. To me, the small price to some of us is worth it.
