TL;DR for those who do not like pretty charts and reading my BS:

Time to next milestone: ~ 10 minutes for milestone 39 ~ 30 minutes for milestone 40

Here's where we are now compared to 2024, and I've marked where the current highest milestone is for reference (the 3 to 4 gem). We will probably hit the next milestone, milestone 39 (30 T6 Basic) in about ten or fifteen minutes [edit: we hit it as I was posting this], and milestone 40 (AA batteries) about a half hour after that. Milestone 43, the R4 gem, is probably about a day away so we'll hit that one on Monday most likely.

Yesterday, day 9 of the event, dropped off a bit from the previous day but interestingly the same thing happened on day 9 of 2024 for some reason. We're oddly almost exactly paralleling 2024 in terms of that. Here's the daily chart:

I can think of no particular reason for a day 9 dip happening identically in 2024 and 2025. Note that day 9 is Sunday in 2025 and a Saturday in 2024: the calendar is one day different between the two years. We'll see if it also bobs back up today as it did in 2024. If we factor in the dip but assume it is just a dip like in 2024, here's the current projection for the end of the event:

It is now slightly lower, at about 6.9 billion, where I was projecting it earlier. Could yesterday's dip foreshadow an even bigger dip today? Probably not: the morning numbers today are somewhat higher than yesterday, suggesting Sunday will score more than Saturday. We'll see.

If we see the next set of milestones as we approach or cross milestone 42 (the second to last visible milestone) that will probably happen last night tonight in about 15 hours or so. For those that want to stare in suspense. I'm not sure if it will be awful or hilarious if its more Titan shards, but my guess, and this is pure speculation, is there's probably some out of the ordinary reward lurking before milestone 50. Call it a hunch. Whether it pops out in the next batch or the one after. My guess is we will at least expose three more batches of milestones before the end of the event, whether we hit all of them or not (I'm still projecting we'll land somewhere in the vicinity of milestone 58).
