Medusa is easily the best, and here's how you should thinkperfectly said. Medusa is a great two way champ and has access to INSANE damage.
Just eliminate brb and scream, since they are available in regular/titan crystals. You can always wait. Neither they need their Awakening desperately.
Cmm is good, but definitely not the best for bgs. She is designed for questing. She has. Avery long ramp outside her target matches (energy dmg nonmystics), involving blocking a lot which is not good for bgs. She can work against some of the best bg defenders though, like onslaught, and possibly against Dp and new cap britain. But she's still not the best for bgs.
Pheonix and medusa are close contestants, but pheonix dupe is actually not that needed for bgs. You ain't gonna rely on immortality buff in bgs, neither you need the regen, both are meant for questing. The auto block counter is good, useful against some tech, but you can live without it.
But medusa on the other hand, goes from a nuke to a full fledged dual threat at sig 1. Counters both evade and autoblock, has better Armor control, and is a very terrifying defender. There aren't many counters to medusa in bgs, and even if opponent draft one, you can use her in attack. No other champs in the list is dual threat, and medusa is arguably the most simple champ to use and have easier access to high damage, among this list. So if you plan on ranking up purely for bgs go with medusa. Or if you love cmm, you can awaken her.

And when the heavies crit, it can get really nasty, I hope I can get him ascended soon I want to go balls to the wall lol. He's also obviously packed with utility, solid Nico counter with poison immunity, strong heal reversal with petrify, strong slow unstoppable counter with decelerate which actually works even against skill champs unlike slow, and contrary to popular belief he is a very solid trap defender now after the buff:
Pretty much requires high crit chance/guaranteed crits or consistent slow/grit otherwise you gotta deal with him going unstable constantly throughout the fight which wastes a good amount of time if the person is running max limber and inequity. Also, Okoye is useless against him and I'd assume Xbones also wouldn't have a good time because 1. he doesn't crit and 2. he can't reduce ability accuracy of Sandman's charges so eventually he does go unstable. That's two top tier skill nukes completely neutralized which is big.
Anyways end of spam, top 10 science imo, can't believe he's being slept on this hard.
