Re: The Problem with The Compensation
Not really, no. Players didn't decide to open their crystals at a random time. They waited the basic pool update to target the new champions.
It's a different situation? A bit, sure, but it's very very similar and the compensation should be similar too. No reason for them to not extend the window this time too
Basic compensation should be equivalent to ZOLA Titan compensation
Nothing less
This is game breaking compensation
Re: The Problem with The Compensation
There are two groups of summoners (obviously more than that but for this instance we’ll focus on the two types) 1. Summoners who KNEW it was a bug and rushed to open everything thus exploiting the bug for the compensation. 2. Summoners who KNEW it was a bug and decided to WAIT for the bug to be fixed, thus NOT exploiting the bug for compensation.
Now the biggest and most obvious issue I have is that Kabam announced that there was a bug and compensation would be inbound for anyone who opened. This message went out before the fix was pushed, so there was a window of opportunity and summoners had to make a choice. Many opted to open, but man (like myself) fall into category 2. Where we feel like idiots, because we KNEW the crystal was bugged and we KNEW we’d be compensated if we opened but we STILL chose to hold until the fix. How does this NOT encourage me to exploit known bugs in the future? I understand that many opened without knowing, but we can’t ignore the people that opened only AFTER seeing Kabams announcement about it being bugged and compensation incoming. I just feel like an idiot man, it’d be different if Kabam didn’t tip the community on the compensation before the fix was pushed.I would still be annoyed, but I wouldn’t feel so gutted for not exploiting the bug. I guess that was my opportunity, idk, I just decided to not exploit it for whatever compensation they came up with. Obviously if I knew that I’d be doubling my crystals then I would’ve opened without second thought. It just rubs me the wrong way. Announce the bug sure, but don’t announce compensation before the bug is fixed. Don’t create a situation where summoners now have to choose between exploiting a bug for compensation and waiting for a fix to receive nothing. I’m sure a majority of people would chose the exploit, especially if we know there aren’t any consequences. After a decade of playing this game, I think it’s about time I hang it up.
Compensation "idea"
This way if you were going to get a new champion you get it and you keep your other pull from before but if you were going to get a champion from the old pool, you already did, so now you just get 1 gold and you don't get an unfair advantage.
Just some thoughts, don't even know if it's doable.
Re: REGAL RAVAGERS ODIN'S SELECTOR
On the web store, you have access to every level of offer below yours. So check the purchase limits and you should be able to tell what you purchased. You’ll need to submit a ticket to support since it sounds like you purchased the wrong item.
Re: The Problem with The Compensation
Haha, anyone else smell jealousy here lol. Can't believe I'm about to defend a million dollar company…
Anyways, I don't agree with others saying people exploit the bug. Casual players had no way of knowing it's bugged. One player mentioned the bug was brought to notice on discord. So? What about the thousands of other players who are not on othe discord server? Who don't regularly check this forum? Kabam took the right road here imo. Compensate only those affected.
There is no such thing as skill gap between players. The game is still largely PvE. Battlegrounds the only place of PvP.
If kabam instead rollback all champs of those affected, and the resources spent on those champs (sigs stones, rank up gems, catalyst etc). It will be funny because then the affected users will cry about better compensation. Players would argue that they were happy about their bugged champ regardless.
Hence to avoid that worse situation kabam decided to fairly compensate just the affected users. What happens as a consequence of that compensation is benign and of no consequence to the game. It's the vocal minority that makes it seem like a big deal. When actually just maybe hundreds of players were affected.
Kabam team are not crazy to compensate thousands of players. If it were in thousands kabam will lose money with compensation there as then the value of crystals would plummet. Does this mean they took the easier route?? Nope. It just means they took the correct route. They got the correct stats, data sets and accurate digits. Dedicated trained teams for situations like this. They know what they're doing guys.
Re: The Problem with The Compensation
You’re not bothered because you’re a casual, for anyone who’s even slightly competitive in BGs it’s a big deal. Especially those that opened over 10 Titans today, I for one could really use dupes on Nico and Karolina and as many sigs as possible on Maker Jean and Zemo. I wish you would for once look at the bigger picture instead of just sucking them off, there’s a time and place I’ve done it myself, but not this time
Re: The Problem with The Compensation
especially when they just turned the game over to the prestige based rework
Re: I am never opening any crystals ever again unless there is a bug to take advantage of
it depends on what is of value to you. I didn’t get anything useful out of my openings today, so I’d rather I had just gotten the correct crystal and be ranking and planning my roster to those pulls then having to wait for compensation. I possibly could have taken further advantage of the cyber deals even, but if the compensation replacement crystals come after the offer expire, then I lose out on those too. So just a really crappy experience all the way around.
Re: The Problem with The Compensation
I'm surprised people didn't abuse it more, I thought we learned and mostly agreed that we would abuse every single exploit on sight after the mythic crystal fiasco a few years ago. Guess some didn't learn their lesson, I could've seen this one coming from a mile away
