Re: Shame on you Kabam
Anyways, I'm over it and let's just be happy for the guys getting comp, cause we'd be happy if we got it too.
Imagine you saved for 5 months and your comp is 1:10. You'd be extremely pissed so Kabam HAD to do this and their hands were tied.
Re: The Problem with The Compensation
Well no, they need to get comp'd but the comp is so busted that everyone else who missed out feels like a jackass.
The comp would be perfect if it was precise (ie. claw everything back and give the right ones), but they took the easiest way out and gave them such an obvious advantage that others feel horrible for waiting or not even being around.
I wouldn't say jealousy but it's a competitive game and players want similar treatment, can you blame them? If they got bugged crystals then got fixed ones later, it's pretty fair for everyone else to get bugged crystals to even things out.
I have a relatively strong roster and I opened 50 after the fix and got 5 nice first awakenings that could affect either prestige and functionality (first dupes on Cull and Quicksilver), a handful of max sig crystals that will give ascension stuff, a handful of prestige boosts, and a jumpstart on a prestige champ that was low sig (+40 on Okoye).
This wasn't just nothing.
Re: The Problem with The Compensation
People pay money to get an advantage in the game. People getting 1000+ sig stones, gold, iso etc for free is an unfair advantage. Because of Kabam's incompetence.
Those who opened the non updated crystals deserve comp, yes. But the method kabam decided on for comp creates a disparity, and contradicts their stated goal of fairness in compensation.
They could have simply offered anyone that pulled crystals early a 1:1 version of the updated crystals and everyone else a 1:1 version of the non updated crystals. Boom, no advantage to anyone.
TheyrTheyre CHOOSING to create that imbalance.
If one doesn't think it's a big deal, not much of an imbalance, thats fine. I disagree. But people claiming there isn't a disparity here are just plain wrong. It's simply a fact that the comp creates a new problem, and an imbalance, and it contradicts their stated goals of fairness.
BY FAR the best solution would have been to implement proper testing as Crashed stated, but I guess that team isn't up and running still.
Re: The Problem with The Compensation
you guys are all missing the point. The biggest issue is that Kabam announced the bug and more importantly announced the compensation BEFORE the bug was fixed. This means anyone lucky enough to catch the announcement was able to exploit the bug for compensation. FURTHERMORE, there is a group of summoners who were lucky enough to catch the announcement but still decided to WAIT until the bug was fixed, thus NOT exploiting the bug for compensation.
They shouldn’t have created the opportunity for summoners to knowingly exploit the bug. Thats the biggest issue. Some players are now being rewarded via compensation for exploiting while others are seemingly being punished for not exploiting. It just doesn’t set a good tone and only encourages me to exploit future bugs
Re: The Problem with The Compensation
I get your argument but with the recent change in prestige based awards in events like EQ, extra signature stones affect the entire game and people that get an advantage will continue to reap the rewards. The easiest solution is if anyone opened crystals in the last 24 hours, regardless of when, they get a replacement crystal. That way everyone that opened has the same opportunity to grow their account.
Re: The Problem with The Compensation
What are you on about when the radiance and BG store are updated?
They advise in advance that a store is being updated. People can choose to hold or not to hold. And due to caps on those currencies, people can't hold indefinitely.
Compensation for Raids almost always comes in the form of revives. If they drop a package, it's for pain and suffering. It isn't a 30 minute "lucky" or "unlucky" window that doesn't have the safeguard of an entire week and an entire battle group to help get through a raid. You're drawing really odd parallels.
We aren't expecting AAA performance. We're expecting them not to continuously make the same mistakes over and over again and then be inconsistent about how they resolve them.
Only a few months ago we had the Zola titan screw up and they posted in the Zola comp announcement they didn't want to award the "lucky few", yet this is exactly what they've done here.
The issue is that this is on the back of them trying to give all the warm and fuzzies before Cyber saying we will be better, we will do better and then it's the same again. At this point we collectively are the fools… fool me once etc etc.
And I have no idea what your TLDR is supposed mean about skill issues. You think it takes skill to open crystals early? You mean people need to stop being overly comped to address skill vs roster gap? I think what people find "unfair" is the idea that those that do the "right thing" i.e. wait for fixes etc, almost always lose out.
Re: Unfair BG matchmaking
Why is everyone so poisonous in comments? The frustration from losing exist, consequetive losses increase the frustration. I understand you. There may be hard times with it. This mode is designed to be frustrating as it is "competitive".
You should note that today and tomorrow there will be many people pushing to GC to get the radiance objective. You just got in bad timing when super skilled people pushed to GC.
Just keep calm, make pause and return back later.
P.S. I recommend watching Cantona's video and following his advice: if you got several losses in a row, take a break. It really helps.
Re: Extended compensation
the worst thing is that some of us saw comments posted that the crystal did not contain all the champs and that Kabam were working on a fix so we held off opening until the fix went live and screwed ourselves as a result. If we had known the comp would be 1 to 1 on crystals we would have all dived in and opened our stash. Trouble is last time around they declared they don’t want to do the 1 to 1 fix so it was a choice of hold or jump for the chance the comp might be decent. Bit naff really.
Re: How are you going to fix the most recent mess up with the 7* basic
Then they should implement testing, which they still dont do.
Re: Shame on you Kabam
I mean, this is the kind of time I feel slightly sympathetic for the game team. There's literally no solution that will feel fair to everyone.
Did we not learn from the 1250 Mythic crystal debacle in 2023 that Kabam simply don't have the wherewithal to claw back through thousands of accounts? Not forgetting that the people who opened potentially hundreds of 7* crystals within minutes are probably amongst their strongest and most reliable customers...
They were never going to please everyone.
I agree with @ESF that the 1:1 fix might have been a bit generous; given the RNG involved in a pool of approaching 200 champs. So personally I might have suggested something like a 1:4 replacement, possibly even with 7* Nexuses because yes: people were targeting specific champs.
Would it be appropriate to give something to people unaffected? That's a tough one. Is it rewarding people for 'doing the right thing' that actually, they were completely unaware of? Or is it a mechanism to prevent the compensated group leaping ahead too fast in a competitive game?
Given the potential impact of this on a prestige etc, I'd advocate for a follow-up 'goodwill' bundle to be distributed to everyone who doesn't get the first compensation; possibly reflecting half the value of the average payout.
But if that doesn't happen, I'm not going to put the game down. I'll shrug and keep playing; because I've been here before, and I know I'll be here again.
