It happens more often than you think. For example, the Deathless champions or even the Stellar Forged. They were added on top of normal monthly champ releases.

I suppose you might not count January of this year because Dr. Strange was not a new champion and just a complete rework. But the new SF Blade will likely make the month he’s added a 3 champ release.
