I haven't seen anyone complain about a lack of free keys, but I've seen people ask about them and I can understand that to some extent. Kabam have given out free stuff during certain events in the past, such as the free 7* Nexus crystal (two if you were diligent about claiming those daily webtrack points) during the recent Ravagers sale. I have no problem with people asking if Kabam are doing something similar this event.

A free key is probably a little too much to ask for since it's one of the top rewards, but it nonetheless doesn't hurt to ask. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if there was some freebie in the webstore during the actual sale (that begins in a few days), but I would be surprised if it was specifically a key. If there is such a freebie, my guess would be maybe a Jubilant crystal or something.

That being said, I will agree with OP and say that it is quite possible to come out on top of this event even without spending. While grinding out 9k units in a single month might not be possible on an ongoing basis, just doing the daily quest and daily super event every day will earn you just under 20K units in a year if my 4 AM math is correct. If you save that up, you'll have a nice little nest egg for when the Banquet comes around (or whichever sale/event you want to spend it on). That has been my strategy for the last two years, and it has worked really well.

Expecting a selector doesn't hurt. No need to be salty over it. Don't say last year they didn't give bla bla bla. Kabam repeatedly says they want to eliminate rng as much as possible. That's why they even introduced this box. They could have given a selector at the end of realm event top milestones. They didn't. It's okay the event is good. But stop policing someone who had bad luck with the event. It is just mean. Let them atleast rant in peace.

I also pulled X-23 and I really like what I've seen so far (even if she's still at r1 for now). I'd also say that she probably really likes her dupe.

So if you had two Mutant AG, I'd say she'd absolutely deserve one. However, if you want to awaken Weapon-X just as much as you want to awaken X-23, the truth of the matter is that he'll be nigh impossible to awaken Weapon X without a gem unless you're a mega whale or get exceedingly lucky (again) with a Banquet crystal. We don't know when X-23 will enter the basic pool (probably in about a year), but she will enter it eventually.

You could always awaken X-23 and then just wait until you pull another Mutant gem for Weapon X, but there's a pretty high likelihood that you'll end up with both champions awakened if you awaken Weapon X and then wait until you've either pulled another AG or just pull X-23 again. Even if it takes forever for her to actually join the basic pool, she'll probably pop up in various crystals and offers until then; Weapon X won't.

But I've never used Weapon X so I'm very unfamiliar with what his awakened ability actually does, and therefore I can't say who actually wants that AG most. All I can say is that you will quite simply have a much harder time awakening him if you give the gem to X-23 than the other way around.

Don't forget, if you accrue enough points in the realm event there's a Founder's awakening gem that can only be used on the 6 new key champions.
