pretty sure theres a difference between not having the resource because its simply not attainable for a year vs spending 1000$ ion a singular champ for that resource

That last part is the worst thing for me.

Because it's like, even as a spender myself, it's already kind of insane to drop $100 on a game here and there, but at least I could tell myself, well I do it during big sales and get a lot in return as far as units, guaranteed value items, and milestone rewards.

But now I feel like Kabam is trying to coerce me into buying these horrible RNG super expensive slot machine featured crystals.

Spending $100 on something in this game already feels dumb, but then spending $100 and getting basically nothing in return is such a horrible feeling, and will make people either quit or get rage-induced into buying more and more featured crystals because of sunk cost fallacy.

IMHO, this is a really predatory and underhanded design aspect of this new ascension system.

Its kind of weird to say, but I would've rather had 8* than whatever this ascension stuff is. Ik you’re scaring people with the thought of 8* but ascensions seem way less incentivizing. At least with 8* you get the thrill of chasing and opening your fav champ in the crystal. Now you don't get that because ascensions are just a basic upgrade to the champ you already own which btw 2 levels isn’t even equal to 1 rank on a 7*. It would suck to have to re-sig an 8* but at least it would be fun to chase my fav champs again and have a cool new ability like adrenaline and stat focuses.

I didn’t bother watching the entire live stream. All this ascension stuff is too confusing to me and just hurts my head.

Why not just release Tier 3 ascension dust and call it a day? And you would only need to ascent a 7* champ once.

Tier 1 dust = 4* and 5*
Tier 2 dust = 6*
Tier 3 dust = 7*

It is absolutely a business mis-direct. Kabam technically was not lying, new champs are absolutely able to be ascended. What they did not say is you will need to spend +1000 dollars for just ONE ascendable new champ. So per month, it will be more than 2,000 dollars per month if you want to ascend both new champions released each month. So its Kabam conveniently leaving out details and telling half truths. Which is pretty scummy

I am in a similar boat. I work hard and keep up with content to keep my roster relevant despite not spending much. Saving titans for new champs has somewhat allowed me to play with the most relevant characters but now, I just won't be able to upgrade them to max level at all
