The problem is that there's a segment of the playerbase that judges rewards as all or nothing. Anything short of the absolute maximum is a failure. For those players, the Realm events are problematic because they don't see the events as a gain of rewards, it's seen in terms of the rewards that are "lost."

I don't think most players see it that way. In fact, the numbers suggest to me that most players don't take the Realm events very seriously at all. For most players its just extra rewards.

The interesting question is the split among those engaged enough to chase the rewards: how many chases them in fun, and how many chase them compulsively. I'm honestly not sure. Me personally, I see them as an interesting gauge on the overall engagement of the players in the game. I do what I can, and beyond that I let the chips fall where they may.

The participation and performance statistics suggest the vast overwhelming majority of players of this game are not normal. But then again, five minutes on the forums or the Discord would also suggest this.

They increase prestige, relic prestige matters now. Of course it was going to be heavily monetized.

The only thing that really bothers me is the 10 crystal limit on the Valiant ones for units.

I love them. I think they're one of Kabam's best ideas in years (low bar, mind you…). I love the sense of a community coming together for larger rewards. I don't worry too much about whether we'll hit certain marks, at least not until maybe the last week or so. But with the exception or two events, the community has done a great job of hitting the high marks. The only thing I "stress" is how I'm doing to hit the minimum, such as right now, although I'm pretty sure I'll hit before the end.
