King Groot Question

Disgruntled_User_123Disgruntled_User_123 Member Posts: 1,138 ★★★
I know that most experienced players don’t consider King Groot to be an elite option. However, for me, champions that regenerate and/or have power drain are the most valuable champions for questing. For those of you who have King Groot Awakened, how good is his regeneration ability? Is comparable to a great regeneration champion like Ghost Rider or is it inconsistent like Nebula? Thanks!

His regen is consistent and very good, but you just have to be ready for some very very long battles. Unless it's a degen node with safeguard to limit damage, it's almost always better to finish a battle faster to avoid human mistakes. And keep in mind he doesn't get any stronger ( besides stacking AB) the longer the battle either like SL, so long battle gets even longer and you may wish you get ko instead

Idk I actually really like him.

All I have is a Duped 4* of him and I’m comparing him to other 3/30 4* he’s actually enjoyable. His regen is arguably the best in game bar maybe Ghost Rider and as far as Bleed Immune champs go he’s not terrible. His armor breaks stack pretty high so after 1 or 3 he’s able to hit normally without the fury while he’s regenerating and then at 10 I usually start to abuse the Sp2 poison for added damage

He’s gonna take forever to clear content but in terms of a durable champ that regularly takes less than 10% net damage over a fight only him, Wolvy/X23, Ghost Rider, Blade and Voodoo can all claim that

He’s also really helpful for degeneration, Bane, starburst etc…

I’m not gonna call him a top tier champion but a nigh-immortal Bleed Immune champ with “eventual damage” (damn you Colossus!!!!!) and even capable of surviving a lot of fights without much damage I have a soft spot for the ironwood tree

KG is a champ when it comes to long bleed paths. In particular I’m thinking of Map 6. Taking the bleed path in tier 2 along with caltrops in tier 3 involves a lot of fights. KG and GR are superstars on these paths because of their ability to regen damage back. I’ve even taken KG against Juggs on caltrops and Rhino with their high armor and been able to take them both down. Granted with KG you might time out, but he can just regen to full health the next fight.

TL;DR KG takes quite a while to down enemies, but has arguably the best sustain in the game, especially for bleed/caltrops/biohazard paths.

Omega takes that spot now. I have both kg and omega 5* at r4 so I think I can back that comment :)

That might be true but not everyone has Omega.

Or KG at r4 I suppose.

King Groot has amazing regeneration, especially if you know how to use his S3 at the right times. Also, now that his poison works properly, his S2 can do massive damage when you build up furies during his regen cycle. The people who say "his damage is terrible!" just aren't using his S1 and S2 the right way. In fact, the ability to 'choose' how much damage you do by deciding to hold off attacking during his fury phase is a secret benefit, because when you get low on health, you will actually want to prolong the fight on purpose in order to get in another S3 or another regen phase. Overall, he is the true King of AQ.

    It's all relative.
Nebula getting smashed by, say, 5.4.6 OG Ultron = great regen; against non-bosses or pillow- hands = nonexistent.
GR with 4 judgments and a stunned opponent with lots of health=great regen; 1 judgment against an almost dead opponent=nonexistent
KG at least is guaranteed a little burst of regen everytime he rage-quits, which is often. The key is to time out the sp3 right after furies start back up, cause the regen doesn't stack. It may not be much, but he's either furious or regenerating, so he's got that going for him.

Actually both King Groot's regens do stack. It's just better to use his S3 when he has fury on for the bonus healing

Can he take out map 5 or map 6 day 4/5 minibosses without timing out?

I don't know because I don't fight minibosses with him, instead I bring specific characters to deal with the minbosses. For instance trying to fight Morningstar with just about anyone besides Luke Cage would be a horrible idea.

And if you did time out, who cares? You can regen his health back from like 15% to 100% in 2 or 3 normal fights.

King Groot is a very resilient champ if he's Awakened.

If you don't have Luke Cage, Kingpin is another under-rated champ that's good against Morningstar. Her bleeds don't stack but refresh, giving him regular opportunities to convert them to Rage. He's similarly good against Ultron with Ultron's puny bleeds and intermittent Evades.
