How to activate SP3 'bonus' animation

Hi guys, quick question... I've been digesting youtube videos of some champs gameplay. Often, on sp3's, I see the following animation p/screenshot below:

I've seen this for several other, and I actually have this champ as well.

What is this and how do we activate it? My SS is a 4star and not awaken. Is a 5star thing? a awaken thing?

Cheers

Its on 5 star champs you get the option to tap within the green and yellow bars.. it gives you a damage boost on your special 3. you also get the bar when your opponent uses a special 3 to reduce damage taken

A little side-question on the SP3 Boost Bar...

Ever since 5* came out, and I would go and press it at a certain spot, about 50% of the time it would initially seem to stop (so it did recognize exactly when I pressed it) but then it would JUMP ahead a little bit further for it's final stopping point. And then the other 50% of the time it would NOT jump an extra amount after the initial stopping point. Was always very frustrating to try and time the green section, sometimes my initial stop would be just before green and then it would jump completely over the green (on a very short green window) that is how far the jump would be.

This occurred all throughout the 2+ years playing with 5* heroes on what is now an older device (iPad 4th Gen), but at that time it was not really that old yet. I just came to think that was another part of the 5* boost bar, that it was an additional RANDOM element, whether it would jump ahead after stopping or not.

Fast forward a couple months ago, got a newer iPad, and the regular jump forward after stopping the bar has NEVER happened on new device.

Sorry this is long (and off topic), but has anyone else experienced this with the 5* SP3 bar ? I could understand if maybe this was a frame rate (or whatever, that some ppl talk about related to animation), but the fact that it would actually stop when I pressed, AND THEN jump ahead afterwards, leads me to believe it was not a framing issue.

It does go at different speeds, I’ve never seen it jump, so that’s probably where ur problems come from. It’s not always the same time to tap for each L3

    5* or above.

no, just 5*s, not 6, 6 gets the health that you can regen some of after losing health.

What on earth are you talking about? It's on 5* and 6*. 6* also have the additional Adrenaline mechanic that you're talking about.

But the Adrelanine has nothing to do with the SP3 pop-up bar that you have to hit your mark. Adrenaline is visible on your health bar and can recover some as you attack your opponent (unless you were pointing out that hitting the 20% center mark would thus also help recover slightly more adrenaline).

And yes, the target window side is smaller fighting against higher strength/health opponents, and the speed at which the “progress mark” zips across the bar may fluctuate based on lagging or other processor related issues.

But the “jumping” to a point further across the SP3 bar from where you initially stop it is very evident (and very often) if you have ever encountered it. So maybe this is limited to older/slower devices (or even maybe just particular devices at that ?). Thx all, so seems like nobody else routinely experiences this.

@SummonerNR @SlayerOfGods @ThatGrootGroot @Lormif @UmbertoDelRio @Hammerbro_64 @LeoGnarleyardo how big of an impact does this have on the damage outcome? Fact that they are 5/6*'s instead of lower, do you see a substantial difference when nailing that bonus VS a bit slow or too fast?

Just reckon that in MCOC sometimes it takes a split second to ruin everything or own everything and I'm curious if this bonus thingy plays a role as well.

It does about 12% to 20% more damage 🤔

Meant exactly that - thanks! :raised-hands: Indeed 12%-20% can be that deciding point. Cheers

Why does the damage bar show when the defender throws an sp3?
  • Stark78AlfaStark78Alfa Member Posts: 502
Because you can reduce the damage...

If your hero is 5* or above (doesn’t matter what Star the opponent is), you get the chance to REDUCE the damage from opponent's SP3 by the same “Bar” mechanism as if you were the one throwing your SP3. Reduction is the same 12% or 20% percentages.

How many of you out there with barely any 5* completely forget about the bar when you/AI launch the SP3?

Eventually it goes the other way. When you're so used to playing with 5 and 6* champs. Throw a S3 with a 4* or lower you prep to tap only to see the animation going forward with no bonus bar, lol.
