Upgrading a roster/masteries to maximize arena scores

I'm just entering the intermediate bracket and want to build a roster to be able to grind the basic 3/4 arena in a ouzel of months when GP, CA WW2, and a lot of other 4 star heroes are available.
Right now I have 17 four-star heroes, three of the at 3/30, 6 at 2/20 and the rest at 1/10.
I also have 54 3-star heroes, most at 1/10.
Is an infinite streak possible given this many 3 star heroes in an arena that has 4 stars? And what should be my strategy to maximize points? (obviously, if I had a year to grow my roster I could max each one of these, but I want the best value in the next couple of months)
