Symbiote Supreme

Thoughts? After going 1-for-2018, I’m suddenly getting a few new champs, all of whom require copious study to understand how they work.

So...is he a R5 candidate? Does he require awakening (doesn’t seem like it)? Is he simply another version of the mystic buff killers like Magik and Voodoo?

Thoughts appreciated...

He’s definitely r5 material. A dupe helps but is not needed, he just adds an extra stagger every x seconds. Get to his l3 and he will bleed enemies to death better than anyone.
Lags has some great content with him. Mine is going to r4 very soon, then r5 as soon as I get the cats.

Just watched the Lagacy video. Looks great—so hard to land a 5* mystic anyway, even harder to get a good one.

@DrZola I have a unduped R5 5*. He's pretty awesome but has some downside. He relies on genetic potential to build power, he gets that from nullifying buffs. If you are fighting a champ that doesn't generate buffs.. Its going to be a long fight. Also his bleeds arent great either if he doesn't have a lot lf genetic potential during set fangs.

I usually build to a L3 and time it with set fangs. Does more damage and his bleeds are really high. Then us L2 during his power phase and he shoots straight back to another L2.

Thank you—that’s what it looks like from Lagacy’s video. The Sp2 is lethal and reloads if you can cycle to the Sp3 with full genetic potential. I just have a soft spot because I miss Dr. Strange. Symbiote Supreme looks like he has a similar feel, albeit with different buff cycling, no Regen, significant DoT.

    Plus he just looks cool.

Symbiote Supreme is the unholy spawn of Dr. Strange, Gwenpool, and Hood. The nearest analog to him is probably Archangel. If it bleeds, AA is good against it. If it bleeds and is not immune to poison either, AA just plain destroys it. With Symbiote Supreme, if it procs buffs SS is going to be really good against it. if it bleeds and it also procs buffs, SS is going to straight up murder it.

I'd say he is significantly better against buffers than Magik. Magik can nullify one buff with SP1, and nullify all buffs with SP3, but this is not easy to control in combat. SS can stack a ton of stagger to essentially nullify a lot of buffs away much more aggressively. One interesting difference between Voodoo and SS is that Voodoo can nullify buffs and turn them into poison with SP1. SS nullifies buffs and independently stacks a lot of bleed. Against cosmic champions that proc buffs and are immune to poison, like say Medusa, SS's reliance on bleed rather than poison gives him an edge. Another difference is that Voodoo has to allow the target to gain buffs and then nullify them, while SS can stack stagger at will and the buffs will stagger-nullify off as they proc. This is also sometimes a significant advantage, such as when fighting things that proc problematic buffs like unstoppable.

In fact, I'm debating whether to take mine to R5 myself. I think he's definitely worth it. It is just a question of whether to pull the trigger or not. Just for Medusa and Champion boss nodes alone he might be worth it.

Congrats @DrZola. I’m right there with you man! Except I scored him as a 6* yesterday. Takes a bit to learn his cycle, but once you get it, it’s easy.

Thanks all and congrats @Madman_marvin I’m trying to get used to absorbing the litany of abilities these new champs have. It takes a careful reading and even then there are often unexpected interactions that can be awesome.

I have mine at r4. He is too much of a specialist. Both good and bad. If it can bleed and process many buffs, SS is godly. Otherwise, he flat out suck since his power gain don’t come from basic attacks. Only reason he is not going r5 and I would rather r5 blade to help with more contents.

I’ve paired him with my 5* Venom. They make a very nice utility and raw damage twosome to include with questing teams.
