Featured crystal in arena milestones

Personally I think it's about time kabam made it fair to all players a chance to get a new released champ without having to pay or spend units.. in the featured arenas why not put a featured crystal in the milestones and let players earn the chance to get it and have a chance (extremely small chance) of getting the new champ? It's getting so frustrating all these new champs being brought out and never being able to get them

    Or just wait a few months for them to be added to crystals, I can’t/don’t grind for featured champs but it’s not that big a deal

    One reason is that this would be a bad idea. The game has to balance what the top spenders and gameplayers get verses what the non-spenders and casual players get, and the worst F2P games gate things: if you spend you get, if you don't you don't. Lots of games are like that. MCOC is not one of those games. Nothing really is gated. Instead, the advantage that spenders and grinders get is time. They get things sooner, everyone else gets them later. That's a much more reasonable advantage to give to spenders and grinders.

    When a new champion comes out, the first way to get that champ is usually the featured grandmaster crystal (for the 5* version in this case). People willing to spend can get a chance at getting that champ first. Then the champ becomes available in the featured 5* arena. The very best grinders have a shot at the champ if they can place high enough in one of those two arenas.

    Then the champ becomes available in the featured 5* crystal. People willing to spend extra 5* fragments have a shot at the most recent champions released at significantly higher odds than normal. And then the champion gets added to the basic crystal, where everyone has a chance to eventually pull that champ.

    This sliding scale of time advantage is what allows MCOC to be a free to play game: people spend money to gain a small advantage in time, but players playing free can still get those things eventually. Without some advantage players wouldn't spend, and there would be no game. Even weakening that advantage too much can be damaging to the game. Personally, I don't think it is worth the risk.
