Do you need to participate in a certain amount of wars or just be in the ally for a certain amount?

    You need to play 5 war. To get it

    Exactly. You must participate in 5 wars to be eligible for Season rewards. So, by war #2 of next cycle, you need to be locked into an Alliance. Then participate in the remaining 5 wars.
