My nephew last night recovered his mastery points and in doing so it locked the mastery again requiring him to repurchase more cores, has this ever happened to anyone

    No, anything previous unlocked by using Cores (or the nodes with large amount of Units required to unlock) should have remained unlocked.

    What WOULD need to be spent again though is the small amount of Gold/Units to increase each Level of Mastery nodes again. That always needs to be paid when re-doing your setup (might be somewhere like 30-40 Units for a complete mastery rebuild by a max level 60 Summoner, depending on setup).

    This is what's strange because it relocked the mastery, requiring more cores, and kabam have said there isn't anything they can do, which I'm sure there is

    Can you prove it? If so, send the support team a ticket with the proof and they most certainly will help you with the problem. If there is no proof then it's gonna be somewhat difficult I think; people could just send tickets to kabam claiming their mastery was re-locked and get the cores for free.

    You sure you had those nodes already unlocked previously ? And not just looking to go into nodes that you never had unlocked before ?

    Also keep in mind that some nodes require more cores to unlock each succeeding level as well (like Deep Wounds, etc). (but then again, once each level was unlocked, they would remain unlocked)

    Kabam should be able to that they were previously unlocked, the cores were purchased and unlocked the mastery he recovered the points last night and it relocked which I can only assume is another bug in the game

    Yes they was definitely unlocked previously
