Rank rewards lost - AQ

How is this possible? I joined the AQ before it started.

Now, I am not eligible for rewards by rank

I think there's a 6 day blackout period for AQ rank rewards. So if you joined right before AQ cycle starts, you won't be eligible for the rank rewards til next cycle. However, I'm pretty sure you'll be eligible for Peak Milestone rewards.
