Alternate 3 special?

When fighting Rocket with Iron Patriot an alternate 3 special occured. Instead of Iron Patriots usual missile attack, he kicked a gun out of Rockets hands and then kicked him across the room. Why did this occur? I would very much like to know if and how to perform alternate attacks.

    think I just answered my own question. performed the same 3 special against Rocket with Ms. Marvel. Must be unique to him.

    Yes, Rocket always has an alternate animation for when he is hit with an SP3 (instead of opponent's normal SP3 animation).

    Think there is maybe 1 more (?) champ like that as well, but forget who.
